coming up on 5 year anniversary of this single this fall
I kinda feel like if I voted today, I'd go with "Stevie Wonder" even though it's far from the worst pun here cos I feel like rappers these days think there are only two blind celebrities in the entire world...
what, "no Andrea Bocelli" woulda been too hard to rhyme?

it would've been hysterical if that awful new Young Money album contained a "Bedrock 2" by the 2014 YMCMB roster
― some dude, Monday, 7 April 2014 11:59 (twelve years ago)
love randomly hearing this out in the wild

"I like the way you're movin' if you're movin' my way" is a very underrated piece of nonsense

He’s saying he’s got her like a grocery bag, also, he leaves the word ‘like’ out because leaving the word ‘like’ out of a simile is called a ‘grocery bag’ rhyme.

i remember being on the subway in like 2004-2005 and hearing two girls loudly arguing about whether cam'ron was a good rapper. And one of the girls used this line as an example of why he is lousyShe put her foot on my balls... Now it's a footballAlthough I've found no evidence of this line actually existing, it still tickles me, and seems like the mid-00s version of this convo.

craziest part of that is your addiction was apparently so bad, you'd hallucinate when you were "on the subway".

― bernard snowy, Sunday, 29 June 2014 13:45 (eleven years ago)
I feel like several ilxors posted in those comments, cuz I refuse to believe anybody else called these "grocery bags"!
― Neanderthal, Sunday, 29 June 2014 15:12 (eleven years ago)
Noisey: Kind of jumping off of that when I bring your name up most casual listeners know you from that Grocery Bag line on “Bed Rock.” Has that line defined you? Or haunted you in a way?
Gudda Gudda: How can that haunt me? It can’t ever haunt me. That was the biggest song I’ve ever been on in my life. I made the most money I ever made from that song. That can’t, that don’t define me at the end of the day. Like I said that’s bandwagon motherfuckers that hear these type of songs and form an opinion from that. I got bodies of work. How can you define me from one verse? That ain’t possible. I got classic tapes. Listen. My shit is documented. That verse don’t define me at all. That might have been the biggest song I ever been on commercially. But that shit don’t define me.
― am0n alb4rn (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 29 June 2014 15:51 (eleven years ago)
biggest song he's ever been on in his life, yet two years ago his Wikipedia page was deleted for 'not being noteworthy' (sadly it's back up now)
― Neanderthal, Sunday, 29 June 2014 16:53 (eleven years ago)
my shit is documented
Idk who gave Gudda Gudda the notion that he has "classic tapes", but he swallowed it hook, line, & singer... DRAKE
― bernard snowy, Sunday, 29 June 2014 17:11 (eleven years ago)
I remember going into FYE seeing stacks upon stacks of Gudda Gudda mixtapes and wondering just who the fuck was demanding them
― Neanderthal, Sunday, 29 June 2014 17:14 (eleven years ago)
wtf lol FYEare you for real?
― bernard snowy, Sunday, 29 June 2014 17:21 (eleven years ago)
When was this
― bernard snowy, Sunday, 29 June 2014 17:22 (eleven years ago)
anytime between 2010 - 2012 (prior to the one nearest me closing). I remember wondering to myself if he got big after Bedrock or something yet I kept looking online and couldn't find much chatter on ANY of the mixtapes. and yet every FYE I go to here, there are at least ten mix cds in a rack specially devoted to Gudda Gudda.
haven't been in the rap section of FYE in a while so hopefully they finally got rid of em (like who is buying mixtapes anyway in the datpiff age)
― Neanderthal, Sunday, 29 June 2014 17:25 (eleven years ago)
