Paul (scifisoul), Sunday, 24 October 2004 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yes once more

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 24 October 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

23 dollars? Right, brief calculations reveal that to be less than I paid for it. Go there.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 24 October 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul, does Tower carry it on vinyl/have the singles? The only person in NY i know who has it got it at Rebel Rebel...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Sunday, 24 October 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

'this is D this is I this is F F I...' hook from Me+1 now officially my favourite thing of year, possibly ever

Michael Philip Philip Philip Philip Philip Annoyman (Ferg), Sunday, 24 October 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't it '*mrs* d mrs i mrs f f i ' etc? sounds like it.
'this is..' doesn't make any sense.

anyone with the official version have the lyrix book?
indeed, does it *have one*?

piscesboy, Friday, 29 October 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldn't pay $23 for any CD, even tho Anniemal is probably my favourite album this year. isn't it cheaper o'er ye interweb?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

$23 = about £11.50; sounds a reasonable price to me.

hang on a minute, doesn't that lyrical schema spell "diffirent"?

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 29 October 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't think it really was 2 dollars to the pound, how lovely

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's was "difficult"

sleep (sleep), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't type in the morning, you know.

sleep (sleep), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...

we managed to get advance 12" copies of "Heartbeat" the next single of new pop princess on the block Annie (679). Written and produced by Royksopp this track is a pure pop bomb (a la Zoot Woman/Phoenix). The A side contains the fabulous original mix whilst the B side offers Roysopp's Mindre Tilgjenglige own alternative rework.Watch out for more forthcoming remixes including Alan Braxe and more...

JoB (JoB), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Alan Braxe

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

You know I posted this mainly for you, Ronan... :-)

JoB (JoB), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It's called 'Hearbeat' rather than 'My Heartbeat' again? I can't keep up.

Best single of the year anyway. Can't wait for the mixes.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Wowee!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The singles are great, but is the album a necessary purchase?

Maxwell von Bismarck (maxwell von bismarck), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Or rather, has this singles versions vs. possible album versions business been sorted out?

Maxwell von Bismarck (maxwell von bismarck), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't it supposed to be a 2005 single?

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Well the album is incredibly difficult to track down right now - it's either out of stock or like extortionately expensive wherever you look. Re-release date is apparently Feb 21 2005.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 01:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Not releasing it 7 days earlier seems to me a grievous mistake.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

wasn't this all part of the so-called soft-release .. i managed to grab a copy when it came out. and it has indeed become a major part of my routine.

'heartbeat' is a lovely track.

hope we get more funky dance moves in the video.

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

too minor bugbears i have with 'Heartbeat':

when she sings 'and have a drink there or two' - i'm not happy with that on a grammatical basis, it just sounds a bit awkward

the drums sound a bit duff

otherwise yes! single of the year

the news that Alan Braxe is doing a remix fills me with joy. for the last few weeks i have been thinking about how great it would be if the 'feel my hearbeat' line was just looped and looped over thudding disco shenanigans...i expect Braxe to do just this, altho maybe Lu Cont could do even better?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Grammatical errors are cute when foreigners do them though!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

'sshhhhhh, let's start der record!'

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like when Bjork says 'warmthest' on "Hidden Place"!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

damn i thought she really did mean her warm vest

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

"too minor bugbears"

grammatician heal thyself

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

or was that a subtle implication that such bugbears are indeed "too minor" to warrant serious consideration?

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Any 'Heratbeat' remixes would probably just resemble 'The Terrace'/'Stand Back' and the mixes thereof.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

my grammatical errors are not as important as Annie's

why so cynical/pessimistic Barms?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

slavish observance of grammatical rules is a hindrance in pop lyricism

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't expect too much from the remixes either. Look at chewing gum - Mylo put a beat behind it and stretched it (very conservative) and Headman, well, ruined it. Remains a song I like but can't play out.

3underscore (___), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

why so cynical/pessimistic Barms?

It's my nature. But I meant to say "in my head" and besides, 'The Terrace' is awesome. Imagine 'The Terrace' keyed down to fit with 'Heartbeat's vocals - t'would be grand.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

'Heartbeat' needs a great remix to compliment the great original imo, ala 'silver screen shower scene' and 'what you waiting for' - both done by JLC! many would say his mixes outstrip the originals considerably but i'd disagree in that they just become a sibling, different yet the same rather than better/worse.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd have nominated ROCnelius for remix duties, but 'Heartbeat' is like a stunning companion to his remix of Mondo Grosso's 'Everything Needs Love'. I'd love for Chelonis to take it on.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

his remix of Mondo Grosso's 'Everything Needs Love'

sendit

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

X-Mastime.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

In terms of remixes, the less fannying around with the song itself the better. All that song needs is a kick drum and some nice fuzzy Braxe pads and possibly a really joyous buildup for the final chorus and thats it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Possibly some lovely French house chords as well (bit like ver Terrace really)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

New one - put 'Heartbeat's vocals over Daft Punk's 'Superheroes'.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

that's one quick heartbeat

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

New one - put 'Heartbeat's vocals over The Prodigy's 'Hyperspeed'.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

LEAVE HEARTBEAT ALONE

I LOVE IT THE WAY IT IS

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe the drums sound better on the actual CD

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with Steve re: the drums. I don't know why they lumbered such an amazing song with some bogstandard Doves-style "lets bash them really hard four times in bar" nonsense.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Club play (also you two are doing your mindmeld case-overstating).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the four snares per bar thing alright (maybe excessive use tho?), it's just they sound a bit too dense and muffled. probably just the mp3 all along tho, as i think Royksopp do drums quite well otherwise.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Gah! I've just listened to the album version of Heartbeat and the drums ARE really hard - I was about to say wtf, the drums are soft and gorgeous. I'm sure the version I downloaded ages ago has great drums.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

weak drums are a key aspect of the track

(and JoB - thanks for making my 24hrs!)

Paul (scifisoul), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)
