smooth age, from that night burger comp, is very cool. i like the faraway tribal drums and overall menacing vibe. good recommendation.

this is a REALLY good ambient/noise album:

excellent jazz quartet whose debut album I've been loving for over a year now. A second album coming out soon, and I'm looking forward to it.

I hope this doesn't get dismissed as stupid without investigating: the soundtrack to Minecraft is actually one of the better ambient records I've heard recently, and has some flat-out stunning moments.

ha, dlp, I've never played Minecraft, but I'm gonna check that out for sure.

Dilly Dally. From Toronto, have two songs up on Bandcamp, and that's all I know about them. The earlier track is kinda meh, but I've had "Next Gold" on repeat periodically throughout the afternoon:

Sheer Mag just got my $4!

skip, Thursday, 12 February 2015 19:21 (eleven years ago)

i love bands like Sheer Mag where they operate w/such (in a sense) totally played out forms and influence but there's some sort of undefinable spark to it and the tunes are just THERE

reminds me of the Exploding Hearts in that sense though these guys add a few more classic rock moves to their power pop/garage punk

kurt kobaïan (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 12 February 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)

oh sweet sheer mag opening for ex hex in nyc in april

i am all for well-executed exercises in form, the endless pursuit of the new is fuckin exhausting sometimes

adam, Thursday, 12 February 2015 19:50 (eleven years ago)

that's a great opening gig for them they will go over well w/ex hex crowd i would imagine

reminds me that sleater kinney is saturday!

Bandcamp hired a smart staff to create about 20 times the amount of editorial content that had been there previously, writing about music that had just been posted as well as parts of its deep and woolly catalog, in a feature called “Bandcamp Daily.”

Anyone reading this stuff on the site regularly? I see that M*rk M*sters, who co-wrote that experimental/avante rock column for Pitchfork , is writing for them a bit

curmudgeon, Thursday, 29 September 2016 20:25 (nine years ago)

I'm writing for them too. Nothing I've done has been published yet (their lead times are print-mag long), but I just turned in a guide to the Axiom Records catalog - which is being reissued, piecemeal, on Bill Laswell's Bandcamp page.
