I feel like that's pretty much the same critical argument I've read time and again about artists like Corinne Bailey Rae. It's okay to just dislike someone's music without expressing your dislike in terms of how that artist failed to live up/down to some nebulous cultural expectation you harbor in your bigoted mind.
