Oh I hate it so much emily! I'm too bitter to enjoy these sort of novelty songs... the 'fun' part feels too forced... maybe I just haven't heard it on the right environment.

my 2yo is obsessed w/ what does the fox say and i'm so charmed by her having a favorite pop song this year that i'll probably ballot it

so is my 2 year-old! we didn't even know that he'd heard it that often, because my wife and i can't recall ever having played it in his presence. anyway, my wife walks into his room the other night wearing these new pajama pants that have little foxes all over them. our 2 year-old looks at her, then says, "what does the fox say?" followed by what i can only gather is a 2 year-old's approximation of the "RING-DING-DING-DING" part.

where Rebecca Black was too ridiculous to be real, this is too real to be plausibly ridiculous. No one involved believes “The Fox” is reaching for deep universal truths. They’re trying to sell ESL yuks as genuine comedy. It wouldn’t even be funny were it authentic.

All the opinions on the fox over there are pretty much spot on about why it sucks so much.

The sad part is I wouldn't say I'm necessarily gaga over the Pusha T album. Not a great year for me and rap; admittedly I am far from an expert.

"22" wasn't released as a single until well into 2013 so that seems fair game. "Diamonds" was a worldwide chart-topper by this time last year, though.

the Pusha T track I love is "Nosetalgic" because of Kendrick Lamar. The rest of the album is bleh besides "King Push."

nice to see Fact list Kevin Gates's retail album Stranger Than Fiction over the mixtape Luca Brasi Story, but it seems weird/willfull to do so on a list of mixtapes

I'm not even sure what technically qualifies as a mixtape. Weren't they both self-released and then picked up by Atlantic?

iirc, Luca Brasi was released as a mixtape and later a pared down version was given a retail release, whereas STF was always just an independent album.

Like I understand that the Arctic Monkeys album is meant to be better than their others if you like that sort of thing, and everyone is voting for Yeezus anyway, but I can't fathom enough people liking that really quite dull and mid-paced QOTSA album enough to vote it top three, and I fucking love everything they put out up until around 2003.
