people wont click through because they hate clicking through lists nothing to do with what does the fox say im sure

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 3 December 2013 21:53 (twelve years ago)

i know that's why, literally no one said the opposite.

Oh I hate it so much emily! I'm too bitter to enjoy these sort of novelty songs... the 'fun' part feels too forced... maybe I just haven't heard it on the right environment.

Moka, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 21:59 (twelve years ago)

my 2yo is obsessed w/ what does the fox say and i'm so charmed by her having a favorite pop song this year that i'll probably ballot it

Mordy , Tuesday, 3 December 2013 22:00 (twelve years ago)

so is my 2 year-old! we didn't even know that he'd heard it that often, because my wife and i can't recall ever having played it in his presence. anyway, my wife walks into his room the other night wearing these new pajama pants that have little foxes all over them. our 2 year-old looks at her, then says, "what does the fox say?" followed by what i can only gather is a 2 year-old's approximation of the "RING-DING-DING-DING" part.

I'm opinion of Johnatan Bradley on thesinglesjukebox:

where Rebecca Black was too ridiculous to be real, this is too real to be plausibly ridiculous. No one involved believes “The Fox” is reaching for deep universal truths. They’re trying to sell ESL yuks as genuine comedy. It wouldn’t even be funny were it authentic.

All the opinions on the fox over there are pretty much spot on about why it sucks so much.

All 3 of my kids love this, including my 1 year old daughter who usually prefers Elmo and pre-Island John Cale.

Why would you listen to the Drake version of "Versace"?

when a real whiney hold you down, you sposed to drown (The Reverend), Tuesday, 3 December 2013 22:35 (twelve years ago)

Seriously. That's like requesting someone in the restaurant takes a shit on your perfectly good slice of pizza before eating it.

apropos of some posts a little bit up, I would be all over that fox song if I wanted/needed to entertain a kid of six or younger but I'm still completely agog at adults enjoying it apparently independent of that function

screaming lord, such opinion (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 3 December 2013 23:35 (twelve years ago)

i will say this about the Fox song,

Before today, I heard it exactly ONCE (and the SNL parody, so twice) and it still would get stuck in my head all the time

tuostprophets (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:38 (twelve years ago)

Do people really like the Eminem song on that Spin list? It is jaw-droppingly bad.

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:43 (twelve years ago)

you listen to pavement

tuostprophets (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:45 (twelve years ago)

spin songs list is pretty good actually

dyl, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:48 (twelve years ago)

i've never heard that eminem song but it's on so many of these lists so far :\

dyl, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:48 (twelve years ago)

indeed i do. xxpost

what a mess that Eminem song is. yikes.

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:52 (twelve years ago)

yr little write-up on it is about 15x better than the song itself, cw

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 00:52 (twelve years ago)

haha thx

The Kidz Bop version is up on Spotify fwiw

i think we're all glad that lex will never be a parent

Mordy , Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:05 (twelve years ago)

Did anyone post the stereogum list yet?

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:07 (twelve years ago)

who will make his dinner for him when he's old?
xp

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:07 (twelve years ago)

You know, I WANT to love run the jewels...but it doesn't grab me at all.

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:14 (twelve years ago)

i thought RTJ was gonna be my hands-down favorite rap record of the year, but Pusha is "pushing" hard *zing*

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:19 (twelve years ago)

I honestly can't fathom going gaga over a Pusha T album

SHAUN (DJP), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:25 (twelve years ago)

Pusha album is in my top 5, it's that good

Yeezus didn't make the cut at all

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:32 (twelve years ago)

i'm probably putting Ylvis on my Pazz & Jop ballot I'm just being honest

weird to see "Upper Echelon" on both the Spin and Complex song lists, what a generic-ass flop song to champion

deez the season (some dude), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:35 (twelve years ago)

you should enjoy RTJ for "get it" alone
that song totally dominated the summer for me

sweat pea (La Lechera), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:36 (twelve years ago)

Who's it by?

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:36 (twelve years ago)

The sad part is I wouldn't say I'm necessarily gaga over the Pusha T album. Not a great year for me and rap; admittedly I am far from an expert.

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:38 (twelve years ago)

harvi11a doing work on this spin list, btw. love it. the "control" blurb had me rollin'.

alpine static, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:39 (twelve years ago)

lmao awesome

deez the season (some dude), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:48 (twelve years ago)

are diamonds and 22 eligible?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 01:51 (twelve years ago)

"22" wasn't released as a single until well into 2013 so that seems fair game. "Diamonds" was a worldwide chart-topper by this time last year, though.

deez the season (some dude), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 02:26 (twelve years ago)

the Pusha T track I love is "Nosetalgic" because of Kendrick Lamar. The rest of the album is bleh besides "King Push."

the objections to Drake from non-REAL HIPHOP people (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 02:34 (twelve years ago)

ditto

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but any best-of 2013 cassette list that doesn't have Perfect Pussy on it is a sham.

Dan S, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 04:16 (twelve years ago)

nice to see Fact list Kevin Gates's retail album Stranger Than Fiction over the mixtape Luca Brasi Story, but it seems weird/willfull to do so on a list of mixtapes

deez the season (some dude), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 04:27 (twelve years ago)

I'm not even sure what technically qualifies as a mixtape. Weren't they both self-released and then picked up by Atlantic?

my impression from the blurb that the Luca Brasi Story would be showing up in the main list

Dan S, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 04:46 (twelve years ago)

iirc, Luca Brasi was released as a mixtape and later a pared down version was given a retail release, whereas STF was always just an independent album.

deez the season (some dude), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 05:28 (twelve years ago)

NME album top three:

1. Arctic Monkeys – AM
2. Kanye West – Yeezus
3. Queens Of The Stone Age – ... Like Clockwork

exciting vampire castle (NickB), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 10:09 (twelve years ago)

Lol.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 10:18 (twelve years ago)

Like I understand that the Arctic Monkeys album is meant to be better than their others if you like that sort of thing, and everyone is voting for Yeezus anyway, but I can't fathom enough people liking that really quite dull and mid-paced QOTSA album enough to vote it top three, and I fucking love everything they put out up until around 2003.
