i am listening to The Fluid's 'Clear Black Paper' right now though, and i have to say it sounds better than Endless Boogie

-- Stormy Davis

scuz clear black paper is a damn good record. listened to some of the new EB record. it's okay. improves on the early EPs, but not a whole lot. might be fun to see live.

contenderizer, Saturday, 9 August 2008 23:15 (seventeen years ago)

might be fun to see live.

Do you drink?

ian, Saturday, 9 August 2008 23:19 (seventeen years ago)

lots

contenderizer, Saturday, 9 August 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

and, yeah, it makes almost anything "fun to see live"

contenderizer, Saturday, 9 August 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

these guys... you're either picking up what they're putting down or you're not. I like the first 2 eps better than the new one. the less they try the better I like 'em, and of the vocals I am not a fan. but you know what thumbs up to them and their mission.

and whatever blues control alb has "always on time" is the one you need. scott or whoever.

Edward III, Sunday, 10 August 2008 04:51 (seventeen years ago)

yikes, at the beginning of Smokin Figs I was afraid I was gonna hate this record. agree that the vocals can be tough to take at times (almost Jon Spencer-ish?)

gets way better as it rolls along and they just zone the fuck out into some raga-rock

dmr, Thursday, 14 August 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

As New York 90s indie's official mascot/joke band, I kind of get a kick out of them. I have no idea why I would purchase their record though.

No Alex-in-NYC nostril-flaring, plz. Just BOOGIE.

David R., Friday, 15 August 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

blues control is music for eternity (or at least the next 20 minutes) and endless boogie is music i want to resolve. I like boring music and can't stand the EB.

lacipetersonskid, Friday, 15 August 2008 00:32 (seventeen years ago)

it resolves in me waiting for the needle to pick up.

lacipetersonskid, Friday, 15 August 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

Blues Control>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Religious Knives>>>>Endless Boogie

beta blog, Friday, 15 August 2008 04:11 (seventeen years ago)

hum, i'm offloading my copy of the white 12" on ebay right now and judging by the number of watches it appears absolutely nobody cares.

resolved, Friday, 15 August 2008 08:50 (seventeen years ago)

further to the above more people care than do about religious knives' first lp though!

resolved, Friday, 15 August 2008 08:50 (seventeen years ago)

Those bands have absolutely nothing in common except that they're all better than your shitty band

5 yo daughter is a big fan of "the manly vibe"

when I try to skip forward to "jammin with top dollar" after "smoking figs" I get yelled at

still think the 1st track on the 1st EP is better than anything they've done since

鬼の手 (Edward III), Thursday, 14 May 2009 16:38 (seventeen years ago)

I listen to this shit when I work out

鬼の手 (Edward III), Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

yeah the switch that controls it has a little note that says "turn light OFF!" next to it. Up until now I've assumed that it meant when I was done.

ultra-generic sub-noize persona (Matt P), Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, that article was quite nice. i'm glad the boogie translates overseas.
i think i sold my copy of focus level one day when i needed to buy food or weed or both :\ but i still got the EPs, and I figure I'll stumble on a cheap used copy of focus level sometime when i need it back in my life...

ian, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:50 (seventeen years ago)

still in print, right?

69, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

Pretty sure you guys are missing out on the comedy value of Endless Boogie being bigged up by the fucking SPECTATOR - just fyi

Should have said 'average' I spose but was just going on "four middle-aged music geeks with a combined age of more than 200 years"

display mane (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 14 May 2009 18:43 (seventeen years ago)

it does seem tough to add right, unless paul majors is secretly 75 years old

"New Pair Of Shoes" getting into some hot Beefheart territory, damn.

sleeve, Thursday, 19 August 2010 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

Never heard of these guys until Pitchfork reviewed Full House Head the other day. Listening to it now, and they are officially the first good band I've ever learned about from that site. The riff to "Empty Eye" is pure Junior Kimbrough awesomeness. What I like about these dudes is that unlike a lot of other contemporary heavy blooze-rawk boogie outfits (Amplified Heat, for example), they don't tip too far in the direction of stoner metal. They're definitely in the spirit of early '70s stuff, but unique. Like this a lot.

Bloody hell is "A Life Worth Leading" the right kind of monstrous boogie jam.

These guys RULE live. Saw them a couple of months back and it was tremendous.

yessss, love the whole new album, but "life worth leaving" is the best. amazing that they keep that riff rolling for 22 minutes and the whole thing is killer.
