lmfao ok fine 'singles' don't really apply to sky ferreira but she will probably film a lo-budget video for it somewhere down the line like she did for "lost in my bedroom" and "everything is embarrassing" (fun fact: the only song from her last ep that didn't get a music video was the title track)

i'm stunned by the mention of 'pt. 1' on that b-sides collection tbh since it implies at least one more part on its way

Well she's got a discography of released and unreleased material that alone could amount to maybe 2 full LPs excluding this one, so I'm not surprised that whatever sessions were behind this album potentially produced a ton of additional material.

She was great live, and the crowd really went nuts for her. The band setup was very rock, although they had some synth and sampled stuff, so the more rock-oriented album material worked really well -- "24 hours," "Heavy Metal Heart" and "Nobody Asked Me" all sounded great. "Lost In My Bedroom," which I love, didn't come across as well IMO. She didn't do "I Blame Myself." I was very impressed with how she sounded though.

So wait, they're releasing a "B-sides part 1" disc but there's still no fucking CD of this? I know, I am hopelessly trapped in the 90s, but still, that's weird

Stage fright & vocal chord issues are by far the most annoying things I’ve ever had to deal with. #1 thing I’ve learned on this tour is alcohol doesn’t help you (by you, I mean me) be a better performer just because you feel numb for a bit. Self medicating is bullshit. Don’t let people pressure you into it so you can get the job done or whatever…In any situation. After it fades away you’re most likely going to feel worse than you did before. Anyways,my point is have fun. Don’t do shit because of anxiety/insecurity/depression. It doesn’t help or make any of those things go away. I’m telling you from experience. If anyone knows how to deal with stage fright HMU. This isn’t supposed to be preachy, just an observation I made about myself recently.

her show in DC at the 9:30 was incredible. early on, she apologized that she couldn't do "I Blame Myself" until her voice healed, but after lots of requests at the very end of the show, she soldiered through it, maybe not the best idea for a voice but a fucking incredible moment you'd never see from an older/jaded/grizzled performer, especially a pop star. i love the moment at 1:44. these crowds are the most enthusiastic she's ever gotten and it shows. it was an amazing show!

I love NTMT all the way through now, after seeing Boys and Ain't Your Right live. DEFINITELY agree on Lost in My Bedroom flopping live - ditch the old stuff! she did that, Everything is Embarrassing, and the entirety of NTMT I believe, except maybe Kristine, but everything else was played. it was all amazing! will totally see her again!

Kristine is my only sore point actually, the rest of the album is fantastic.

"kristine" is one of my favorites! i began to like it more once i could actually kind of figure out what she was singing in it

"kristine" is a highlight for me too, just the opening guitar crunch is so hard

So, OK, on the b-sides disc, is the version of "Everything Is Embarrassing" the original (superior) version, or the album version?

Probably gonna buy just for the Unknown Mortal Orchestra remix, but the answer to the above question will mean the difference between going out to get it right now and putting it on my Amazon wishlist or some shit

Finally got this and "Omanko" is really doing it for me for whatever reason. It feels like a demo, the lyrics are almost a placeholder, but it comes together

is omanko about orgasms? something about it has always scanned as her encapsulating "the orgasm" into a song. rhythmic, raw, the self-satisfied breathy vocals, the frantic drums towards its climax.

"Omanko" is apparently rude Japanese vernacular for ladybits, so, yeah, maybe? I'm working it into a (terrible!) mix right now; it sounds amazing slowed down just a little bit.

The Letterman performance sounded good but it seems like a backing track mostly takes over the vocal on the chorus?

yeah well i mean there are harmonies in the chorus. idk why her backing band wouldn't sing them tho, unless they don't sing.

I think I can hear a faint harmony on the title phrase, but it's more the way the lead vocal sound totally changes in that whole section, like it's double tracked and very compressed (you can hear all the notes equally well), and it just doesn't sound live there where it does in the verses. I guess it could be just the way they're processing her vocal differently there, but it sounds odd to me. It doesn't offend me or anything, and I thought Sky's vocals sounded great when I saw her live, although "You're Not the One" did seem a bit rough, which is understandable because it's a difficult song to sing -- the vocals are very constant and full of long phrases. I just was a little surprised by what I was hearing in that clip as far as TV performances go, but maybe that's pretty normal?
