i do not like this record even a little bit anymore, aside from "you're not the one" and kinda sorta "i blame myself"

Oh well.

I am in the exact same boat as Brad. Altho I semi-like Heavy Metal Heart and Aint Your Right too. Very weak overall, not the kind of sounds I was expecting or wanting. Sad cos Ur Knot Tha 1 is an unparalleled belter.

I think "24 Hours" is the only weak link on here.

^ musically, it's def in my wheelhouse, but as a whole it seems really janky and trite.

For contrast: I think this is an album-of-the-year candidate.

I don't have many candidates, so this would be one of them.

Yeah this is up there for me, probably just behind the Goldfrapp album for album of the year.

Don't really think there is a weak link but Ain't Your Right is probably the only song I kind of forget about. My favourite song on here keeps changing but right now it's I Will.

yeah, if you look past the narrative of pop-starlet-goes-rebel, this is idk just a pretty standard idol-worship record... i mean which is fine. but it's way way way way more 'pastiche-y' than the other record to get called pastiche-y this year, haim.

"you're not the one" is still one of my least favorite sky singles and while it's fine it's not an album highlight for me. i do love this album tho.

man she really can't get enough of twin peaks: fire walk with me, huh? I count six references on this album, starting with the title.

I've been listening to this a bunch over the past week and have decidedly mixed feelings about it. It is much more rockin' than I expected, which I enjoy, I like the sonics of the album overall. But I find myself getting worn down by her over-emphatic singing. Her vocals have a tendency to take the songs too far into the Emo zone when I'd prefer it if she went darker. She hits the nail on the head here and there, but mostly I just want her to tone it down a bit. The songs don't seem like they should be sung at the top of your lungs. They need a certain level of disconnection or aloofness to really work.

That being said, I'm clearly not the target demographic for this, so I may be way off base.

Also co-sign that "Love In Stereo" sounds a bit like The Blow, although it's less cerebral/dry in delivery.

I am digging this record. Also I just saw The Blow last weekend and tonight I'm seeing Sky in the same small room, I'm really curious what it's going to be like and pretty pumped to see it.

lmfao ok fine 'singles' don't really apply to sky ferreira but she will probably film a lo-budget video for it somewhere down the line like she did for "lost in my bedroom" and "everything is embarrassing" (fun fact: the only song from her last ep that didn't get a music video was the title track)

i'm stunned by the mention of 'pt. 1' on that b-sides collection tbh since it implies at least one more part on its way

Well she's got a discography of released and unreleased material that alone could amount to maybe 2 full LPs excluding this one, so I'm not surprised that whatever sessions were behind this album potentially produced a ton of additional material.

She was great live, and the crowd really went nuts for her. The band setup was very rock, although they had some synth and sampled stuff, so the more rock-oriented album material worked really well -- "24 hours," "Heavy Metal Heart" and "Nobody Asked Me" all sounded great. "Lost In My Bedroom," which I love, didn't come across as well IMO. She didn't do "I Blame Myself." I was very impressed with how she sounded though.

So wait, they're releasing a "B-sides part 1" disc but there's still no fucking CD of this? I know, I am hopelessly trapped in the 90s, but still, that's weird
