Unsettled defender (ithappens), Saturday, 2 November 2013 10:47 (twelve years ago)

Alex! Kind of surprised you weren't all over this from the beginning.

old homophobic boom bap rap traditionalist (The Reverend), Saturday, 2 November 2013 12:50 (twelve years ago)

The fact that one of the girls in the video clip looks like Marnie makes me wish it was more like Girls the show.

Also this song could really do with an extended mix.

Tim F, Saturday, 2 November 2013 14:06 (twelve years ago)

The extended outro is begging for a proper guitar solo tbh.

monotony, Saturday, 2 November 2013 15:19 (twelve years ago)

Good piece.

Unsettled defender (ithappens), Saturday, 21 December 2013 07:08 (twelve years ago)

three weeks pass...

Went to see them again last night in Brixton. Very different from NY. Crowd was almost entirely screaming teenage girls, fanning themselves with excitement.

Spottie, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 16:21 (twelve years ago)

:-0 at both of those.

Tim F, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 17:00 (twelve years ago)

Would be pretty okay with their whole next album adopting the Chris De Burgh vibe of their cover versions.

Tim F, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 17:09 (twelve years ago)

three weeks pass...

i can't even deal with the fact that i saw them last night i can't believe that actually happened they were so amazing i nearly cried it was so life-affirming NEVER GONNA QUIT IT NO WE'RE NEVER GONNA QUIT IT NO

this is still the best album

uberweiss, Monday, 17 March 2014 05:12 (twelve years ago)

:-( :-( :-( I missed them when they were here :-( :-( :-(

Tim F, Monday, 17 March 2014 07:11 (twelve years ago)

:( that sucks because omg
they played all of the lp except "menswear" and "is there somebody" + they played "milk" + "you" + "so far (it's alright)"
think my favourite moment was the "now that you've got your gun" section in 'robbers'. SO INTENSE.
we had queued up for their noon show but didn't get in due to overcapacity and then i was depressed but then i found out they had a show that night as well and it was only $20 and the guy at the door can't do maths and gave me a 21+ wristband so best night and i still can't believe it happened! soooo good. it's insane how important their music has become to me

uberweiss, Monday, 17 March 2014 07:55 (twelve years ago)

oh hi I just heard 'Girls' for the first time and I am suddenly ALL ABOUT THESE HERE BOYZ

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 21 March 2014 17:48 (twelve years ago)

Their show here sold out before I could get my hands on tickets and a guy was selling a pair for $70. Fuck outta here.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Friday, 21 March 2014 17:58 (twelve years ago)

bought the album at lunchtime, omg I'm in love

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 21 March 2014 21:06 (twelve years ago)

Tim F, Friday, 21 March 2014 22:01 (twelve years ago)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 22 March 2014 00:08 (twelve years ago)

I really thought I would be tired of this album by now butttttt nope still listen at LEAST once every other week and still never skip a single track.

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 22 March 2014 03:25 (twelve years ago)

am i the only one who heard a little Fall Out Boy in "Girls"

something abt the tone of his voice reminds me a bit of Patrick

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 22 March 2014 03:37 (twelve years ago)

There's like 50+ influences listed itt but not sure FAB have come up yet.

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 22 March 2014 03:41 (twelve years ago)

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 22 March 2014 04:07 (twelve years ago)

yeah wow wtf

surfbort memes get played out, totally (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 03:21 (twelve years ago)

we need a petition or a twitter hashtag

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 06:27 (twelve years ago)

opening spot in the UK?

If so, then as much as I hate to say it, declining was probably a sensible decision

Tim F, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 12:16 (twelve years ago)

why?

markers, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 13:35 (twelve years ago)

Because most of the band's fan base would not forgive them for it.

I love The 1975 but I recognise they're the kind of group that would attract a lot of bullshit idiot fans who basically agree with the NME's worldview even if they don't read it.

Tim F, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:00 (twelve years ago)

This band suck colossal donkey dick.

Toni Braxton-Hicks (Turrican), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:54 (twelve years ago)

i don't think the NME even reviewed the album and iirc they were nominated for "worst band" at their awards along with 1D and The Wanted.

all is fair in love and womp (monotony), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:55 (twelve years ago)

luv the 1975 hate Taylor Swift NME 4eva
