NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Monday, 14 October 2013 13:17 (twelve years ago)

Well, I uploaded a nice pic, and voted for "Suck" (b-side of "Never Understand"), would appreciate if you did the same.

Mark G, Monday, 14 October 2013 13:31 (twelve years ago)

Of course, I shall be most agrieved if they use my pic and I have to pay £130 to get the crummy poster!

Picked up a bundle of the deluxe expanded editions. Listening to an interview conducted by a disinterested Tommy Vance who sounds incredibly like Alan Partridge.

michaellambert, Thursday, 15 January 2015 20:23 (eleven years ago)

Janice Long used to get fairly decent interviews out of them.

I mentioned uploading a pic for the poster in the box set, never heard owt from them so I assume it wasn't used

Mark G, Friday, 16 January 2015 08:12 (eleven years ago)

the story in psychocandy about young douglas hart is hilarious. "Hey Jim, that wee toddler's looking for you"

This has been noted in other threads: if you're a JAMC fan, you'll probably like this.

This kind of looks like the 120 Minutes set, but I don't remember this happening during a JAMC interview...

new album in march http://www.brooklynvegan.com/the-jesus-and-mary-chain-releasing-first-album-since-the-90s-in-march-2017/

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 16 November 2016 23:48 (nine years ago)

really, wow! i recently signed up to their artist poll, so a new album before that poll is great news.

Bee OK, Thursday, 17 November 2016 02:00 (nine years ago)

I'm hopeful for it. saw them a while back where they were doing a little greatest hits bit then all of psychocandy and it was actually a bonafide great show which i generally don't expect from not particularly active baby boomer bands.

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 17 November 2016 19:57 (nine years ago)

Wow, finally the The Jefferson Airplane cover!

god that cover is bad

The drop shadow...

koogs, Thursday, 8 December 2016 21:47 (nine years ago)

haha

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 8 December 2016 21:47 (nine years ago)

Song is also bad. Drums are really terrible. Lyrics, chords etc all sound like a JAMC-bot created them. If someone said it was Primal Scream I'd have laughed at it. Mind you there's a certain kind of Jesus and Mary Chain badness which the fans seem to want so what do I know?

everything, Thursday, 8 December 2016 21:48 (nine years ago)

a bit like a parody of a jamc song that you could imagine in a 90s channel 4 comedy show

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Friday, 9 December 2016 18:13 (nine years ago)

just heard a snippet on the radio - same line repeated 4 times.

koogs, Friday, 9 December 2016 19:15 (nine years ago)

'just like honey ...."

Mark G, Friday, 9 December 2016 19:54 (nine years ago)

It was all downhill from that point.

So... Damage and Joy. It's not bad but kinda unnecessary imo, but anyway - they're back.

oh, and "The Jesus and Mary Chain Announce North American Tour"

Next (this) month, the Jesus and Mary Chain will release Damage and Joy, their first album in 18 years. In addition to their upcoming European dates behind the record, the band have now announced a North American spring tour. This May, they will perform in Brooklyn, Chicago, Toronto, and more. Find their upcoming shows below.

enjoying this (even though JAMC-bot is also OTM)

StanM, Saturday, 18 March 2017 14:17 (nine years ago)

out tomorrow.

the singles have grown on me.

they also play about 10 minutes away in a couple of weeks' time. i didn't bother with the various reunion tours. do i go?

koogs, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:09 (nine years ago)

their first album in 18 years

*vertiginous existential crisis*

physicist and christian lambert dolphin (bizarro gazzara), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:10 (nine years ago)

xp. i enjoyed the show i saw on their last north american tour, like it was a legitimately solid rock show from a gang of olds and I'm glad i went.

having said that i don't think ill be going this time

Islamic State of Mind (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:11 (nine years ago)

It's about 10 years since I saw JAMC reunion now, they are playing in Bexhill which is like 15 mins on the train, am tempted.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:25 (nine years ago)

I enjoyed listening to it last night but I'm not sure how I feel about it in daylight.

This album is. . . not good.

Austin, Sunday, 16 April 2017 20:28 (nine years ago)

yeah of all of the recent reunion albums, this is one that just doesn't appeal

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Monday, 17 April 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)

Its OK. Which other reunes? Pixies? Blur?

Mark G, Monday, 17 April 2017 20:34 (nine years ago)

always disappointed that this thread isn't actually called Jesus and Mary Chainia

Οὖτις, Monday, 17 April 2017 20:36 (nine years ago)

It's pretty disappointing either way.

Austin, Monday, 17 April 2017 20:36 (nine years ago)

I don't think so. This album is pretty good for them. They have always been a pretty average mediocre band and this album just continues in that vein. Absolutely ok to listen to just for nostalgia. There have been so many bad reunion albums, this one isn't.

Alex in Spree-Athen (alex in mainhattan), Wednesday, 19 April 2017 19:10 (nine years ago)

stfu

they are an amazing band, this album is terrible

-_- (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 19 April 2017 19:12 (nine years ago)

I don't think it's terrible, but it is pretty mediocre and definitely inessential. I was tempted to see them live the other week but I'd've had to rearrange work to do it and after listening to the new album decided not to bother.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 19 April 2017 20:07 (nine years ago)

I saw them a few times in their psychocandy days, I'm not going now, no need.

I was also at this show and they fucking ruled, just look at that playlist. The opening band, Warlocks, were also a pleasant surprise.
