xpost ooh i am glad it exists tho, even with a release date and tracklisting and cover art and all i am still sceptical that this album will come out

sonically what amongst her past work does it most resemble? it's hard to get a hold on where she's at atm, given that all of the songs on ghost were so different stylistically from one another

heard a few tracks from this, very very promising.

Album is out. I've only listened to the iTunes clips and nothing's really blown my mind. I think "You're Not The One" is the best track (which is OK cause it's a good song, but a little disappointing).

listening to this for the first time after downloading it from itunes. "Boys" is pretty good. i like the heaviness of it a lot.

itunes censored the album cover which isn't a big deal except she is pretty touchy about larger forces messing with her shit. if i was itunes i would have backed off and let her do what she wanted.

so far i am in love with this but i can't trust myself, because everything i've listened to tonight has sounded amazing. is there a thread about that kind of mood?

within a fortnight i will probably be appropriately semi-bored about it

i guess the earnestness of her lifelong struggle to make this super quotidian post-teen angst record is fairly disarming, like ordinarily i might have just thrown it in the haim bonfire if it was anyone fresh n cute up in my grill

anyone really buying into the personal narrative here is a halfwit or at worst a creep though, this record is from the saturday girl behind the topshop till serving sky's stylist more so than she herself

case in point, 'nobody asked me (if i was okay)' is way way way better once you get past the butthurt reading and instead pick up the triumphant vibe like it was a less eloquent/mordant 'ain't it fun', which it is

compared to "you're not the one" the rest of this seems like half-composed synth pop

I really liked "Everything is Embarrassing" but the 'RIYL Haim, Lorde, Salem's TMZ tendencies' appeal of all of this sorta makes me wanna wretch

They put together some of these tracks very quickly, so "half-composed" and "under-composed" are definitely ... potential drawbacks. But part of what I like about the album is the way it can accommodate those loose, unfussy tracks -- songs like "Kristine," the ones that feel like they're just delighted to be able to hang around in their happy private space making noise and cooing to themselves.

The thing I find interesting about the whole narrative behind her isn't some cheerleading "girl against the industry" thing -- it's that she winds up with an experience that connects so perfectly with certain types of quotidian teen angst! I mean: feeling controlled, feeling like nobody takes you seriously, feeling like your peers all gossip about you, having people think your boyfriend may be bad news ... it's like central-casting young-person issues blown up to IMAX scale, or at least Sofia Coppola film scale. And she seems very young and self-dramatizing about it in a way that's considered uncool and messy for people in the public eye, but gives the music a lot more passion, I think.

it is a v pleasant synth pop album, parts of which seem intentionally broken

this witchhouse synthpop biz is being overstated a tad i think, doesnt it really just sound like hole or whatever (nb i have never heard a hole album)

The weirdest resemblance on this is how much "Love in Stereo" sounds like the Blow, to the point where I initially thought it might be a co-write / co-vocal
