None of us has heard all of Creed's albums or seen them live, so leave us alone!

ps their guitar player really isn't very original at all!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 31 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

anybody notice that you can cut-n-paste certain responses from the DMB thread into here?

like the ones about "big selling != quality", "how much do you need to hear to HATE", etc.

and you all better watch out, or i start posting Dune images in here.

Looks lik Geir is doing one of his usual ignore what was said about him as he has no answer.
God bless Geir. He can rid us of Creed fans forever!

Robby, Sunday, 31 August 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Geir will ignore it as usual. Dont try to goad him , it wont work. Nothing pisses him off.

Davie, Sunday, 31 August 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not going to argue with anyone who likes Creed. If you want to ruin music for yourself forever, more power to you. But when you say Pearl Jam hasn't made a good record in ten years, you're just talking crazy. Pearl Jam's only been making good records for the last ten years. The first two PJ albums are really flat.

At the PJ show I saw earlier this year, some dum dum behind me kept yelling "Play a song we know!" It was then that I fell in love with the girl who turned around and yelled back "Why don't you buy some of their records?! Everyone else here knows these songs." Sadly, there was no episode of fisticuffs, but the guy at least kept his trap shut until the band played "Alive."

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Sunday, 31 August 2003 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I find it ironic and very sad that you call this bored 'i love music' when clearly none of you actually do love music when clearly all you want to do is hate on people youre clearly jealous of because all you do is sit on the internet all day at your mums house instead of hating why dont you go out and there and do something better oh yeah you cant because your all have no talent unlike creed who are one of the best bands out there right now (i also like puddle of mudd)
you probably have sex with ur mum or ur are gay

Darren Farmer, Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

[email protected]

this guy rules! Shouldn't you be listening to Morbid Angel and not Creed, Darren?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

you probably have sex with ur mum or ur are gay

This makes me wonder, the "or" part. Is this a false dichotomy? Could someone be both? Well, duh. The answer to this conundrum lies in Darren's assumption that everyone who posts here is male.

David A. (Davant), Sunday, 31 August 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"If you don't have sex with your mom, you're gay!"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Darren is proving Kingfish to be so very correct.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Their first single (or first radio hit) was bearable, in a "I don't hate it enough to change the station" way.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Pearl Jam are shit. And who cares about "ten" and "vs" that was a generation ago. Creed are modern and outsell PJ because they are superior imo.
Geir Hongro , you question the intelligence of hard rock/metal fans elswhere on this board i see. Well i think its a shame that someone is so bigoted and ignorant in this day and age.
Its not important who likes/dislikes creed. Each to their own, but we can do without those attacks.

Davis, Sunday, 31 August 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Geir's only obsession is melodicism, a quality of which Creed is in short supply.

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Monday, 1 September 2003 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't despise Creed so much as I despise the fact that so many people don't see past their blazing mediocrity. Personally, I find it very easy to dismiss Creed completely, and I am completely befuddled whenever anyone says that they acutally dig Creed. I think that Creed doesn't have anything to offer that a thousand other bands didn't do a thousand times better. I think that Creed is the musical equivalant of plain, unbuttered, un-sour-cream-and-Bacoed mashed potatoes, only minus the starch and carbohydrates.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree with Helltime, especially the food metaphors.

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Monday, 1 September 2003 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I love plain, unbuttered mashed potatoes.

But I don't love Creed.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 1 September 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Weird, I thought that you'd bee into greasy burgers and fries. And all those other songs that I listened to religiously in 1998 when I was breaking free of a drug-addled, control-freak girlfriend.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Momus sound like Creed?

Promus, Monday, 1 September 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the more important question is Whou would win in a fight between Momus and Promus. And a less important question is Who will go to the store and buy my drunk ass a pack of smokes?

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Creed are a great band. If you lot don't like them then so what. Its your loss. Go back and listen to your Flaming Lips and your crappy Nirvana indie rock mush.

Rascal, Monday, 1 September 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

They're not great. They're mediocre. Everything they do is a watered-down regurgitation of something else, they have no original ideas and their singer acts like a pompous ass. Unless you are being sarcastic, rascal, you are just not having discriminating taste.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate Der Weinerschnitzel, too. I get sick just being near that greasy hellhole.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 1 September 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Milo, you just inpiredededed me.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there going to be a song called "I Hate Der Weinerschnitzel" coming to a record store near me?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Most likely.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Monday, 1 September 2003 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

definately

cheese, Monday, 1 September 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

1.  There are better, true Christian rock groups out there, bands with actual messages and a true need to get out the word instead of posturing and teetering ever so close to actually saying something without actually saying something.
2.  Creed don't rip off Pearl Jam. No they don't. They rip off the Goo Goo Dolls instead, which is even more of a crime considering how long the Goo Goo Dolls have been going and how much better they are overall. Even their mid-'90s Sensitive Band transformation.
3.  If you're truly interested in listening to an uplifting message with a sound that doesn't sound watered down, try Anberlin or dc Talk or any other similar musical artist instead.
4.  Creed are BLAND! I'm proud to call myself a Christian *and* do not appreciate having even anything approximating my faith's message delivered quite so soullessly. Gosh, even those Time-Life Sounds of Worship songs sound like they're sung more from the heart.

Go back and listen to your Flaming Lips and your crappy Nirvana indie rock mush.

okay!

good thing this was posted, cuz i was feeling a little sheepish about having "You're Living All Over Me" on the turntable right now...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 1 September 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I have an aversion to bands where the singer looks like he spends a lot of time in the gym. I don't want to listen to muscle-guys make music.

That goes for Henry Rollins, too.

some guy, Monday, 1 September 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Even God hates Creed. If there is a band I despise in this world is Creed. I'm not much of a PJ fan, but god, you can't compare them with this piece shit. At least Pearl Jam made music. I mean, talk about uninspired, riff-stealing, stuckup posturing jackasses. Its as if someone took the idea of grunge, ate it and then took a dump. That dump is Creed. Its grunge without all the nutrients, w/o all the energy. Creed is the 'rock' band non-music fans like. Its the band jocks and cacos say has 'deeper' meaning.
And concerning the JC pose: "I'll bury you rich, I'll bury you poor, in your Jesus Christ pose" - Soundgarden, Jesus Christ Pose

"Creed are a great band. If you lot don't like them then so what. Its your loss. Go back and listen to your Flaming Lips and your crappy Nirvana indie rock mush.", I hope this was an 'ironic' statement.

Cacaman Flores, Monday, 1 September 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I dig "With Arms Wide Open" cuz it's self-loathing, warmhearted and grandiose. Plus they performed it at the end of the VH1 Music Awards with big beaming smiles cuz they just won some awards.

And sorry, Creed is Pearl Jam minus anything remotely indie. Right down to the possibly alcoholic singer (though Rattle & Hum Bono is a big influence too). I remember when "My Own Prison" came out, people REFUSED to believe it wasn't Pearl Jam. They only believed when the band announced its approval of monotheism on "What's This Life For." The funny thing is Pearl Jam was getting into Buddhist/Eastern stuff right at the same time.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 1 September 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

oh and Creed does suck. If the song isn't a big triumphant piece of Pearl Jam For Jesus hooey it's usually much worse (attempts at metal like "Bullets" and "What If"). And I can't listen to much overblown stadium-PJ in a row.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 1 September 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

it's official: Bono is responsible for everything bad ever.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 1 September 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

DUDES CREED ROCK! THEY KICK SERIOUS ASS. YOU GUYS DONT KNOW GOOD MUSIC. MUSIC JOURNALISTS/CRITCICS KNOW FUCK ALL. HATING ON A BAND BECAUSE THEY'RE BIG IS PATHETIC.

Creed Fan No1, Tuesday, 2 September 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

even jesus hates creed

HATING ON A BAND BECAUSE THEY'RE BIG IS PATHETIC.

I don't so much hate on Creed as hate at them. Were I to hate on them, I might miss my intended target (Creed themselves).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 2 September 2003 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
hey I found another place to make fun of creed! Here's to the biggest cocksuckers that ever sucked cock while being anally sodomized by flag poles!

klamydia, Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Another place?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, they are bad because they have no talent, I guess

And they are really hated because they SUCK and are still extremely popular

(Most obvious answer evah? ;) )

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

what a disappointingly tame thread. i mean no one even offered up reason numero uno that Creed bites bollocks: SCOTT STAPP IS A DOUCHEBAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Alex in NYC's quote near the top is great though.

That's such a D'Angelo in "Untitled" sort of pic.

Anyway, Creed have their moments, but on the whole I have no objections to their name being more or less synonymous with awful.

i think they get a good tuned down guitar/distortion tone to tell you the truth

charleston charge (chaki), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 02:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they're fucking amazing.

Any time I hear one of their songs on my local Clear Channel affiliate, I'm stunned into listening.

The guitars sound like morphed Velveeta, the chord progressions from MSTunesmith, the choruses assembled from every Big Chorus by some Christian editdroid of atypical anti-anxiety meds. The tiniest driplet of humanity has been meticulously, triumpantly exnayed.

It's nothing less than the sound of loud nothing. That can't be easy.

Ian in Brooklyn, Wednesday, 23 March 2005 07:37 (twenty-one years ago)

shitty lyrics

Dunno. I despise them because they sound like Pearl Jam. I.o.w. I despise Pearl Jam just as much as I despise Creed.

seven years pass...

So I came across this article on Slate today (it's a few years old), but it argues that Creed is actually very good, and that they were hated for illegitimate reasons (in short, it was fashionable, they talked about God, their fans were uneducated white trash, their songs were too soaring and enjoyable, etc). Is there any credibility to this? I think I may have heard one Creed song in my life, but generally steered clear because... well, it was fashionable.
