Under the Skin is very nice, yes. I thought I'd never want to hear another Stones cover until "I Am Waiting" started to play.

eugh not for me by a longshot
― winston, Friday, 25 July 2008 01:12 (seventeen years ago)
they all look like shit in that photo; i think they got good stylists after the s/t took off
"god his last one was amazing"
yes, it was. vaguely hoping for a full electric/weird pop new album, though.
― Marco Damiani, Friday, 25 July 2008 10:11 (seventeen years ago)
completely off topic but "fleetwood" hypem radio brought this up "Fleetwood Crack": http://www.zshare.net/audio/134226990668c4aa/
Very nice
― baaderonixx, Friday, 25 July 2008 10:55 (seventeen years ago)
It is somewhat based on "Tusk"
― baaderonixx, Friday, 25 July 2008 10:56 (seventeen years ago)
so what do you think of Buckingham's new single "did you miss me"? (Gift Of Screws coming out in Sep.):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfJNeTvIjhI
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 17:42 (seventeen years ago)
I wonder what's going to be on it, since a lot of "Gift of Screws" (as originally planned) wound up on Say You Will. I'm really excited to finally get the title track on CD, since it's one of my favorite FM related songs.
― dlp9001, Sunday, 10 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)
i don't know, but the Track List is totally different from the original GoS.:
"Great Day"
"Time Precious Time"
"Did You Miss Me"
"Wait For You"
"Love Runs Deeper"
"Bel Air Rain"
"The Right Place to Fade"
"Gift of Screws"
"Underground"
"Treason"
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)
early reviews says the new GoS is somewhere in between Under the Skin kinda songs and more "rock" songs like "did you miss me"
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)
(except for GoS, the song, which is on both, and is an awesome song btw):

wait, which album is "Somebody's gonna change your mind" on? I thought it was the demos for this I had it in. If so, that was the best one, weird to have left it off. This should be good, I think a part of me actually prefers solo Lindsey.
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:06 (seventeen years ago)
"Somebody's gonna change your mind" - it's in Under The Skin (awesome song ineed)
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:13 (seventeen years ago)
Not really what you expect from the Buck
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)
he probably just named the album GoS (almost) regardless of the previous unreleased recordings. most of the songs from that "album" later appeared/ruined on Fleetwood's albums and/or Under The Skin
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:17 (seventeen years ago)
this song is swell, swell is this song
― remy bean, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:20 (seventeen years ago)
you can see how Animal Collective are influenced by LB by listening to it
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)
jesus, that never even occurred to me
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)
but yeah, that actually seems really obvious actually
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:26 (seventeen years ago)
i like Under the Skin's minimalist atmospheric sound- at it's best it as strong and classic as Suicide's debut.
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
Best solo album remains Out of the Cradle, but it's not great.
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 10 August 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
You used to be cool
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:05 (seventeen years ago)
loved the version of "Big Love" that he did on the reunion album (the dance or whatever), with the crazy fingerpicking. I was pissed that I couldn't play that super fast banjo-esque sounding part in the middle.

YES
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:14 (seventeen years ago)
LAW AND ORDER THOUGH IS TOTALLY GREAT BY THE WAY
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, as good as OOTC and the last disc are, I think Alfred's right. Buckingham's such a great producer, guitarist and songwriter; I wonder why he hasn't been able to release a completely satisfying, great solo disc.
― Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)
you mean "he hasn't been able to release a completely satisfying, great..disc" since TUSK
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:48 (seventeen years ago)
i look at it from the otehr side: it's great that he still releses some awesome stuff between the mediocre one's, as oppose to lots of aging rockers who are became just plain boring or bad as a whole
― Zeno, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)
Buckingham's such a great producer, guitarist and songwriter; I wonder why he hasn't been able to release a completely satisfying, great solo disc.
Cuz, like lots of other talented men, he needs help?
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:55 (seventeen years ago)
I kindof like how on his solo stuff he clearly has nobody to even slightly reign him in and he just makes these bonkers science experiments.
Bwana is so good it gives me a sugar headache for example.
― I know, right?, Sunday, 10 August 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)
"red rover" from the last fleetwood mac album sounds SO MUCH like animal collective.
anyway i am officially anticipating the new lindsey album, his last one was such a lovely little record.
― aaron d.g., Sunday, 10 August 2008 22:20 (seventeen years ago)
a friend pointed this out to me a few weeks back, "go insane" acoustic from '92. kind of amazing. dug this song as a kid but don't think the studio version's attention-grabbing production really holds up over time. stripped down version is a small revelation:

vocal @ 3:05, holy SHIT

"d.w. suite" from Go Insane is one of my fav ever Lindsey joints. so strange, so beautiful, so great
― Snámh dá Én (missingNO), Thursday, 12 May 2011 06:51 (fifteen years ago)
yeah the original "Go Insane" buries a creepy song in trendy production.
I love the capital-B-Baroque vibe of The Dance version.
― ginny thomas and tonic (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 12 May 2011 11:19 (fifteen years ago)
I've seen him three or two times live lately, and it's interesting to watch him do songs that required his Guitarmy of five guitarists back in '92 or whenever. His current band is just him and three buds, but it sounds pretty great. Did that dog barking in "Holiday Road" and everything.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 12 May 2011 11:49 (fifteen years ago)
having a moment with go insane today. i know the production's considered "dated" but i don't know, i don't think i'll ever get over the idea of buckingham fucking around with a fairlight.
― mutant slow drum (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 August 2011 19:31 (fourteen years ago)
That's the only one I don't own. I love crazy eighties production on aging boomer records.
― livin in my own private Biden hole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 7 August 2011 19:32 (fourteen years ago)
i also think it's crazy and amazing that this record has a locked groove on the first side.
― mutant slow drum (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 August 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)
ALSO there's a new lindsey song streaming at fontana distribution: http://www.fontanadistribution.com/
― mutant slow drum (BradNelson), Sunday, 7 August 2011 19:38 (fourteen years ago)
Lindsey is so, SO classic; it doesn't get much more classic. His contributions to Tusk alone show what a strange and amazing place his mind was back then, and don't get me started on the Go Insane LP... Brad, that locked groove at the end of side one is insane! I found this several months back on vinyl and play it all the time. Alfred, you must get it.
― Clarke B., Sunday, 7 August 2011 20:00 (fourteen years ago)
i've really been enjoying Out Of The Cradle lately. it's a big sprawling mess but a constantly engaging one
the production is like an understated, minimalist version of tango in the night's hazy balearic rain forest, one song has pretty much the same beat as "family man". must've sounded kinda anomalous when it came out in 1992
"all of my sorrows" almost unbearably beautiful whispered windchime reverb drenched lullaby
it's very good
― missingNO, Monday, 8 August 2011 03:41 (fourteen years ago)
"doing what i can" is basically "big love" w/ new lyrics, still totally exhilarating tho
― missingNO, Monday, 8 August 2011 03:57 (fourteen years ago)
Touring this fall. Psyched as usual. Having seen him both with and without the Mac, more without, sometimes I wonder if he even realizes the other guys aren't there.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 8 August 2011 04:14 (fourteen years ago)
The B/N reissue was a bit of a disappointment given that there were, uh, rumours for years that it was going to get a stacked edition with demos and extra stuff.
― Lithium Just Madison (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 14 April 2026 21:21 (one month ago)
yeah, especially given that theres a couple deluxe editions of all the FM albums they're on, box sets, full alternate albums, box sets of full alternate albums....
― encino morricone (majorairbro), Tuesday, 14 April 2026 21:49 (one month ago)
Yeah, it was so easy to get decent bootlegs - like good rips from good, clean vinyl copies - I don't think it would've been much of an event without some unheard bonus material. As-is, it was just "oh, a legit, affordable version from the original masters, how nice," but that's it.
― birdistheword, Wednesday, 15 April 2026 02:21 (one month ago)
I know it was brought up in interviews over the years, but weren't they usually open to releasing it, it was just more prosaic issues like "where are the masters"? I thought Nicks said that at one point, she and Buckingham were thinking of putting it out, but it physically wasn't possible for some reason.
― birdistheword, Wednesday, 15 April 2026 02:23 (one month ago)
This was from an interview promoting the new release, but it sounded like it was a disorganized mess and they just needed to get their act together to make it happen:
"It's like sharing ownership of an old car," Nicks, now 77, once said of the tangled rights to the album, which were split between herself, Buckingham, and producer Keith Olsen. "The stars never seemed to exactly align."
For Buckingham, 76 next month, the reasons for its disappearance were less clear. "One of Stevie's managers has the masters in her house," he said in an interview years later. Why? "Well, because somebody's got to have them somewhere. The politics of Fleetwood Mac are strange."
He added: "Better hurry up! That's all I can say."
