Seriously. "Holidays of Horror"! Merry Christmas/he gunned his family down/His bullets were their presents/Dead relatives all around
Too many syllables to cram into that melody and they don't care! It's fun!

"McMassacre", about James Huberty! You go to McDonald's/to eat a hamburger/Next thing you know/It's time for your murder

Who else loves and wants to praise this classic? metalheads?

Love this record. So many great tracks "Trampled To death" is a fave. I remember an old zine interview with them...Q: How does Dennis The Menace drum so fast?A: Hatred
― ringworm, Friday, 20 September 2013 18:39 (twelve years ago)
I really love their ultra-childish fixation on groan-worthy rhymes
"Dr Holmes (He Stripped Their Bones)"
"Albert Fish (Were Children Your Favorite Dish)" etc.
"What the Heck Richard Speck (eight nurses you wrecked)"
"Patrick Purdy Killed Five and Wounded Thirty"
it's like their songtitles exist as mnemonic devices for memorizing serial killer trivia
reminds me of people storing up, like, baseball batting averages or something

I won't lie I stumbled onto this band online while searching for Japanese crust band Gloom and then found this album, but I'm really glad that I did because it's awesome

and that bassline breakdown on "Trampled to Death" is sick
"McMassacre", about James Huberty!"
best huberty song is still the throwing muses one. by a mile.

This band sound amazing. Will I be disappointed if I actually listen to them?
― emil.y, Friday, 20 September 2013 19:35 (twelve years ago)
depends. are you into grind?
― Neanderthal, Friday, 20 September 2013 23:03 (twelve years ago)
There could be very few better ways to kill/murder/decapitate 25 minutes.
― ringworm, Saturday, 21 September 2013 20:58 (twelve years ago)
just found out they're headlining a local festival in TAmpa next week. at a show I wouldn't have known existed until a friend told me.
so fucking ecstatic. been dying to see Macabre.

I used to love going to Milwaukee Metalfests and seeing Macabre live, so fun!

i loved the Britney Spears headset the vocalist used to wear

not heard this but used to love the Dahmer album
― Leighton Buzzword (dog latin), Friday, 11 September 2020 16:46 (five years ago)
thanks CP for reminding me to revisit this after a long absence.
some of the silliest vocals ever, that screechy high pitched warble.
this is the riffiest Macabre that exists. and god the drums are thunderous.
― LaRusso Auto (Neanderthal), Sunday, 27 September 2020 03:34 (five years ago)
"Holidays of Horror" sleighs me
btw what the fuck is that melody lifted from on the chorus of that song? I know it's the same melody of that stupid birthday song they sing at Chili's "Happy happy birthday/from the Chili's crew" but....where did that melody originate?
it's driving me insane. can't find any info on it.

NEW MACABRE ALBUM
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:13 (five years ago)
"Joe Ball Was His Name" was catchy
this next song is called "Stinky"
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:14 (five years ago)
this is more in the vein of Dahmer than the unhinged craziness of Gloom, but it's entertaining as hell, as usual. especially the stupid voices both vocalists do.
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:15 (five years ago)
lots of playing children's songs with parody lyrics as usual
omg, "Stinky" is using the "Slinky" theme song
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:16 (five years ago)
and now they're doing a sendup of "Dem Bones" ("Them Dry Bones")
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:22 (five years ago)
running outta serial killers, yet more songs about Richard Speck and Dr Holmes, who they've covered before...
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:24 (five years ago)
"Wheels on the Bug" =....ahh i don't have to tell you
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Friday, 13 November 2020 05:39 (five years ago)
"Stinky" is about John Wayne Gacy btw.
the stink being dead bodies
they really need to find other serial killers to write about. I mean there are hundreds of lesser known ones
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Saturday, 14 November 2020 03:11 (five years ago)
the Sinister Slaughter album is pretty dope too (the one after Gloom)
― Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Saturday, 14 November 2020 15:55 (five years ago)
finally got the Grim Reality EP, their first real release. it's only 12 minutes long, six songs. came with both Neil Kernon remix and the original 80s versions. the Neil Kernon remix sucks, it's too clean and polished.
they had already kinda found their sound but it's a wee bit more thrashy without as much grind/death influence. these guys are just fun.
― they were written with a ouija board and a rhyming dictionary (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 22:42 (four years ago)
Grim Reality was my introduction to the band. I loved how "Mass Murder" was just three guys taking turns soloing, pretty unorthodox for the time!
― Loud guitars shit all over "Bette Davis Eyes" (NYCNative), Thursday, 13 January 2022 00:02 (four years ago)
they were pretty ahead of their time! kinda sad that their live shows features very little pre-Dahmer music. not that I don't like that album, but Gloom and Sinister Slaughter are my favs.
