really into this. while quite understanding that grimes-gone-boogie may be an ermmmm divisive sound on ilm.

I like this album fine but I've only really put it on as background music and hey it works well enough as that.

This album may click with me someday, but right now it seems like it's behind glass.

Listen to it a lot while at work, and really like it, but suspect it will be ones of those albums I forget about in 12 months time

this is now my most anticpated album of the year, "You Never Show Your Love" was so underrated.

i really loved the first 3-4 songs of the first album (the rest just didnt match up for me), so am cautiously excited to hear the new one.

New one is growing on me...though at first I wanted it to have more vocals.

Still super jazzed for the new record; co-sign on Pull My Hair Back being unbelievably lovely.

Have to say i'm not so keen on this one. Does what album 1 did but not as well, plus a couple of really annoying vocal bits :(

Just listened to this for the first time and it completely passed me by. It did take me a while to really get into her first album so I will persist but my first impressions aren't good. Didn't really notice any hooks at all.

i want to like this and i do like "it means i love you", but i haven't got there yet. i'm trying though!

I wouldn't say I like it more; but it does a different thing (a little more open space, a little more pop, a little more 80s, a little more vocal variation / direct-ness / 'energy') that I'm loving in a different way. Early favorites are slow jam "I Talk BB", "VV Violence", and "Never Enough".

She had passed me by until the other day when someone recommended this LP to me. Enjoying it a lot.

Listened to it 2x in the shop yesterday...and yeah, I think every track here is a keeper. It's different enough from the debut while retaining enough vocal & production characteristics that it's not a complete sea change. Pretty much loving this record right now.

i maintain that the back stretch of this, starting with Vivica, really really opens up after a few listens.

This is a huge leap forward to me. So much more inventive and adventurous in its sounds and her performance, and the songwriting is much stronger too

I love 'pull my hair back' but I don't really like the new one and I feel frustrated at how many people like it based on the EOY lists. Same producer, same sort of sound but it just doesn't connect with me. Am I the only one who doesn't feel like it wasn't an improvement? It feels like the same thing but with lesser songs to me.

I thought it was way better than the first one, more vivid three-dimensional sound and better songwriting

The new one's great and she kills it live, but the first one has "Fuck Diamond" which is all-time.

When I first heard those piano/synth chords come in I was sure he had a part in this, but then saw she credited Pearson Sound with co-production and some other guy mixed it; no mention of Jeremy. Seems like this is just a one-off single but I hope not the end of their partnership!

saw that too! their whole dynamic is very curious with the friends, lovers, ex-lovers arc.

honestly impressive they've maintained such a close and consistent creative partnership through it all. also interesting that he seemingly never proactively promotes her work nor his involvement in it.

at the beginning there was sensitivity of overshadowing and it being written off as a junior boys project but at this point certainly she's doing bigger numbers than they ever did. as a long time JBs fan I'm just glad it's still a going concern and a great one at that!

have yet to dig into the album but it looks promising. 'limbo' is A++++
