Yeah, his voice does grate a bit. I have to admit...

It did for me when I'd only heard "Juice" and that's prob why it took me a couple months to check it out until I saw so many people I trust talk about how good it was. But as soon as I put it on it was immediately taken with it. Total Albums that you know are going to be brilliant within the opening 20 seconds of the first track status.

also agree with matt but i think ultimately i could probably power through the sound of his voice if i felt more compelled by what he was saying with it. just don't really feel like i need early yeezy told to me again by wyclef on ludes

the tape opening with a re-do of an old Kanye tape intro is the opposite of an auspicious opening imo

although in generally i find the whole thing more compelling and less kanye-ish than rtc does

Well then Chance made something better out of it.

One of the problem with the voice it is that at its most grating on Juice, which is the first single. Once I powered through it, I was fine. I really hope he doesn't get buried because of the voice like Joanna Newsom did.

Not impressed with the James Blake remix, and I usually really enjoy James Blake.

Sorry, wasn't aware of many rappers whose voice grated some like Chance's. It is an odd comparison.

Maybe it's the "neh neh neah" voice that's the most annoying... And some of the singing as well...

this talk about his weird grating voice is strange to me because it's so similar to lil wayne's? i mean not identical but certainly in the same lane, and it's made pretty obvious at the start of the tape when he says "please say the rapper"

i'm mostly with rtc in that i don't find what chance says particularly compelling, it's all a bit too backpackery for me though i don't hate it or anything

i def thought his earlier stuff was a little too much The Craft Of Song and not enough of him in it, but recent stuff is more fully fleshed out.
