Has anyone heard "Send it Up" in an actual club yet?

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 9 September 2013 02:10 (twelve years ago)

US tour with Kendrick Lamar opening, coming soon

― Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Monday, September 9, 2013 2:10 AM (Yesterday)

yes.

dylannn, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:54 (twelve years ago)

yay charlie wilson

One burly voice screamed and that was one of many. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 14:28 (twelve years ago)

That was kind of fun, they should cut that in the studio with the same lineup

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:06 (twelve years ago)

Dylannn, was anyone bring carried around like Prince, in the club, while "send it up" was playing?

(More seriously, how was it received?)

Beatrix Kiddo (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:07 (twelve years ago)

Yeah Wilson steals that

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:18 (twelve years ago)

in the middle of a night of mostly hard dancehall + newish rap, it's short and didn't sound particularly out of place, received well. i dunno. why wouldn't you hear that in a club?

dylannn, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:36 (twelve years ago)

also heard that chief keef ring around the rosey song or whatever the fuck

dylannn, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:41 (twelve years ago)

well i mean, the audience that the song was kinda aimed at seems to generally hate the album.

some dude, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:41 (twelve years ago)

xp

some dude, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:41 (twelve years ago)

yeah i dunno. i still don't get the lvoe for the first half of the album, the noisy tracks, but i have a lot of time for the last half.

dylannn, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)

yeah ^^
it still kinda blows my mind that the generica of him over-enunciating I AM A GOD is taken seriously, the second side is p singular though

@twitizensforlemonlipbalm (schlump), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:04 (twelve years ago)

i always start with side 2 and then go back to the top if i want more

festival culture (Jordan), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:11 (twelve years ago)

also like to play the "who produced this?" mental game (i.e. "is that an evian christ snare? arca synth part?")

festival culture (Jordan), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:31 (twelve years ago)

i think of the album less in terms of sides than in terms of 'starts well and ends well, with a trough in the middle'

some dude, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:35 (twelve years ago)

same

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:36 (twelve years ago)

I would probably come around to the second half of the album if I ever played it

WHAT DOES SAMANTHA FOX SAY (DJP), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:52 (twelve years ago)

iirc the beats in the second half were ok but yeah i never want to play it to come round to it. first four tracks still awesome though

― some dude, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 9:35 AM Bookmark

yup.

I've heard "Send It Up" at clubs a couple times (once in the middle of a bunch of dancehall and bass music, once in the middle of a bunch of rap) and heard a dj start a set with "New Slaves" but those are the only tracks I've heard out.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 18:39 (twelve years ago)

I wish he'd done a more normal singles campaign for this album once it was out, feels like a little of a cop out to make a 'challenging your audience' album and then not try to reach that audience through some of the same radio/media channels that he's always reached a huge number of people through

some dude, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 19:21 (twelve years ago)

word

The Reverend, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 19:43 (twelve years ago)

cop out is his mo tho

Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Saturday, 21 September 2013 18:49 (twelve years ago)

Radio 1 interview at the moment is something else.

"We’re seriously in a civil rights moment… Nobody thinks about the names I got called for wearing tight jeans."

Deafening silence (DL), Monday, 23 September 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

haha yeah...the false equivalencies from the Yeezus lyrics advanced as serious arguments

Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Monday, 23 September 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

"Why do you think Niggas in Paris is called Niggas in Paris? Because Niggas was in Paris!"

Deafening silence (DL), Monday, 23 September 2013 20:31 (twelve years ago)

can't argue with that one

Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Monday, 23 September 2013 20:41 (twelve years ago)

does his voice sound weird and different?

sup (billstevejim), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 01:03 (twelve years ago)

he sounded like that on the Kris Jenner interview too

Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 01:29 (twelve years ago)

Terrific piece by DL

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 September 2013 16:33 (twelve years ago)

ᶓ͠סּᴥ͠סּᶔ ᶓͼ᷆ₓͼ᷇ᶔ (gr8080), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 20:43 (twelve years ago)

does nu-kanye get a diff voice

ᶓ͠סּᴥ͠סּᶔ ᶓͼ᷆ₓͼ᷇ᶔ (gr8080), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 20:43 (twelve years ago)

it is very weird, maybe the gold teeth are part of the issue.

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 20:48 (twelve years ago)

i kinda assume that's how he actually talks and his 'rapper voice' is more of a contrivance tbh

Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 20:52 (twelve years ago)

wow his voice is making me feel like i'm on hallucinogens

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 September 2013 03:48 (twelve years ago)

damn, the hour-long version is a trip.
