eh in that breakfast club interview from a while back he intimated that he had no connection with atlantic at all so i doubt he got sent into a tailspin or something

yeah possibly no rapper has ever seemed less concerned w/ staying on a major label. The Appeal didn't pop and he just immediately resumed dropping mixtapes every 3 months and did a few independent albums, never pushed another single through Atlantic or announced an album for them to keep delaying.

I misread the timeline of his tweets. I thought it was tweets about Atlantic execs that opened up the floodgates, but looking back it seems like they were open long before he even got around to addressing Atlantic

What's frustrating with Gucci is he can turn on and off the misogyny like a faucet. On some releases it's hardly a factor, but on others (Trap Back 2, the only thing he's put out this year I can't stomach) it's utterly intolerable.

i don't think it gets 'turned off' so much as he just has a lot of songs that have no thing to do w/ sex/women/etc.

My hunch is that this has something to do with the fact that he just broke up with his girlfriend (the one with the Rodman hair) whom he clearly was in love with, judging from his recent output. (Nothin on you, etc. etc.)

Or of course perhaps it was the other way around and he broke up with her because he went batshit crazy, which might or might not be a consequence of his rumoured ascites. Sigh.
