I don't really get why Metallica's "Enter Sandman" was one of the four vids singled out at the VMAs. yeah, Newsted's backing vocal harmonies were shit. There's a reason Metallica didn't generally do 'em prior to the Black album. did anyone really give a fuck? if anything, the goofy sound quality of their instruments was worse.

I remember it being a thing, but it was like 20 years ago, so

the "More Human Than Human" thing is funny though. Cuz I remember staying up specifically to watch that, and thinking it was awesome, and just listened again and was like wow, that did sound like dogshit! like a record slowing down.

I thought "Vibeology" was the shame of '91 VMAs.

that video set me on a quest to watch super early Metallica vids late last night so I guess it all worked out

i'm sure the top 50 records slideshow is wonderful, but since i can only advance one slide into it i'll never know

Oh Spin website, never change. Not working for me either. Just asked if someone could post in the 2013 lists thread.

I have never actually been able to advance more than one slide on any list they've ever done. After a while it was such a pain in the ass that I just stopped reading the website entirely.

i think there may have been a couple of ppl that did a few singles columns between leland and aaron but yeah it was basically leland's column (hall of fame pop music writing obv) and then aaron's. at this point i think it's fair to say whatever semblance of spin magazine was left is gone. the outrage and hysteria over jojodancer was something else, a shame ilx wasn't around then. googling for it just now it's crazy just how much mainstream press this thing got - http://joeclark.org/dossiers/rocklist/. i mean the voice had TWO pieces on it one week.
