― gucci mane gretzky (deej), Friday, 20 February 2009 07:27 (seventeen years ago)

― some dude, Friday, 20 February 2009 07:42 (seventeen years ago)
I still haven't heard "I Love College". I am proud of this fact.
― The Reverend, Friday, 20 February 2009 07:45 (seventeen years ago)
that rev in the last post was awfully crazy
― some dude, Friday, 20 February 2009 07:48 (seventeen years ago)
?????
― The Reverend, Friday, 20 February 2009 07:50 (seventeen years ago)
i am paraphrasing the song you haven't heard
― some dude, Friday, 20 February 2009 08:02 (seventeen years ago)
its a pretty inoffensive song & i get why its a hit / gonna be a hit
whats more offensive is the way theyre marketing dude thru dj drama & as a legit rapper ... like if he was a 'rapper' in the way dudes from len were rappers i dont think itd be as annoying. but instead hes getting covered by rap blogs & everyones talking about him like hes the next em
― gucci mane gretzky (deej), Friday, 20 February 2009 08:49 (seventeen years ago)
wow this is really fucking sad, RIP cham's career... shouting out asher roth jesus christ

Devil's advocacy but weren't we doing the same thing with Mathers in 98?
― Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious xkcd comics), Friday, 20 February 2009 13:28 (seventeen years ago)
I mean having exactly the same arguments.
imo white rap should go back to the days when Tarrie B was on Ruthless and Everlast was being marketed as the new Heavy D
― Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious xkcd comics), Friday, 20 February 2009 13:29 (seventeen years ago)
I wanna be clear here that I'm not stanning for Asher; he seems enjoyably listenable if not overwhelming. 'I Love College' sounds better to me than 'Crack a Bottle' fwiw, but that's not exactly high praise. It's just kind of amusing to me that he's being held up here as the umpteeth "death of hip hop" figurehead on a thread where people hope that the talk of Soulja Boy being a one-hit wonder is finally over.
You're right about him being set up to break pretty large this year; promoters desperately want to see a somewhat less addled and more controllable lil' wayne (that is, somebody who can sell records and put asses in seats at shows)get to the top of the heap post haste so they've got a headliner for Summer shows.

xxxpost dom,
The big difference was that Mathers could rap, dude. Asher Roth could be hip-hop vampire weekend rapping in an ascot about salad forks, but I would fuck with him if he could rap. Which he currently can't to save his fucking life. There's kids in collegehumor.com videos that rap better

(it's elena dementieva)
the new project pat albums is as decent and serviceable as any Pat. And I think Three 6 is giving him better beats.
The best track is with Gucci Mane:

al did you happen to catch kid cudi/kanye on 106 yesterday (or watch the vid on the internet)? ye 'previewed' his verse from "maybach music pt 2" and it's got another riff about shit, including a couplet rhyming "poupon" and "poop on", so not only is he biting wayne a year too late but also triump/eminem like 6 years too late
― THE_REAL_BLAP (J0rdan S.), Friday, 20 February 2009 20:25 (seventeen years ago)
why are you asking al?
― harry s tfuman (and what), Friday, 20 February 2009 20:26 (seventeen years ago)
because i remember him making a point about kanye biting wayne's shit/piss riffs when "swagger like us" dropped
― THE_REAL_BLAP (J0rdan S.), Friday, 20 February 2009 20:27 (seventeen years ago)
