"Feel It" sounds familiar. This is one oneofthose DJ Q mixes.

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 13:01 (twelve years ago)

trumpet & badman appears to be a dj haus track that he and dj q then used as a duo name

oooo hello this is a bit of turn, q goes filter disco summer jam! thumbs the fuck up

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 August 2013 18:51 (twelve years ago)

finally got round to checking Thug Houz vol 1 - so good! I certainly don't remember Hot City being anywhere near as bubbly and fun. I don't think he's had a hand in this, but DJ Q's vibes appear to have blessed these tracks all the same.

grrr... the audio stream for this month's show is still playing last month's. Anyone got the link handy for that page with all the archived shows for d/l? can't seem to find it now.

http://essentialgarage.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/DJ%20Q

it's this but unfortunately they only tend to put them up a few weeks if not a month after the fact

been on at mos on twitter since like first thing tuesday lol but no dice so far

have listened to it in my head though and the opening third is agreeably lively. Foamo vs Todd Terry - Release The Girl (DJ Q Mash Up) is intriguing, i'm kinda hearing the ebtg 'missing' mix with ghostly "realeeeease me" over the top - sick human trafficking vibes bruv

r|t|c, Friday, 13 September 2013 11:38 (twelve years ago)

cheers, this show is streaming at last. The 'Release the Girl' mash up is actually Route 94's 'Forget the girl' over the Foamo, not Todd Terry at all :-S

Benny B, Saturday, 14 September 2013 13:50 (twelve years ago)

blinding set. relentless!!

r|t|c, Sunday, 15 September 2013 20:26 (twelve years ago)

heh this mix feels like a congenial hits parade breeze compared to monday's ruff tuff essential garage set 4 the headz

Because I am incorrigibly slow I am still listening to July's ruff tuff essential garage set 4 the headz.

Is the new set even better :-O

Benny B, Thursday, 3 October 2013 08:06 (twelve years ago)

When can we do this that will suit everyone? i.e. if Benny, Tim F, r|t|c and the Rev all want to be there, is there a half-hour that will overlap?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 3 October 2013 10:00 (twelve years ago)

"Heaven" is lovely.

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 13 October 2013 00:20 (twelve years ago)

Oh fuck, I don't think I had listened to "Trust Again" before, aside from here it pop up (in pieces) on DJ Q mixes. Very nice. (Very exciting to be excited by so much new music again.)

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 13 October 2013 02:17 (twelve years ago)

I just realized the vocal sample on "Love Keeps Changing" is saying "love keeps changing!"

I sometimes don't make out words in songs even when they are the title of the song.

(I've definitely crossed some sort of accepting it on its own terms treshold with house. I love this song and I want to dance.)

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 13 October 2013 15:10 (twelve years ago)

this new DJ Q mix for DOS tracks is very housey

Oh thanks. Just what I needed to keep the party going and risk being late to work.

_Rudipherous_, Sunday, 13 October 2013 15:21 (twelve years ago)

mixing 'deep inside' into 'darlin' is a stroke of genius. I wonder if he'd planned that mix before or was it just pure killer instinct. I remember him saying in an interview that he never pre-plans tracklists.

Benny B, Sunday, 13 October 2013 15:30 (twelve years ago)

really? wow

r|t|c, Sunday, 13 October 2013 16:59 (twelve years ago)

This transition is very funny (and timed perfectly lyrically) but on a sheer musical "holy shit how do you do this" level it's the transition from Leftwing & Kody's "You Were" into "Darlin" that really blows me away, total next level simpatico.

Tim F, Monday, 14 October 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

very into "Everything You Never Had" right now

footballer of the future (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 17:34 (twelve years ago)

Why hasn't the Essential Garage blog updated in AGES??? ;_;

The July set is basically my favourite music EVER. Especially when it goes hard, like that tune with the recurring "BITCH!!"

Tim F, Monday, 21 October 2013 09:14 (twelve years ago)

At the sweet spot of replays of this set where every tune sounds like the most amazing relavatory thing ever crafted by human hands.

So much of it is like the return of Areal and Sender filtered through a fidgety hi-jinx garage sensibility.

Tim F, Monday, 21 October 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

I think the Essential Garage blog did at least post the August set, mistagged as the Dream Team (haven't listened to it properly yet, though, so that could be nonsense).

toby, Tuesday, 22 October 2013 05:07 (twelve years ago)

you're right its this one
