I think in the year since I started this thread any possible excitement I had for a new Lady Gaga album has dissipated.

i like this a lot and i sort of find it weirdly endearing how she's actively getting worse at writing lyrics

her vocal schtick is just too much for me at this point

initial reaction = very good, potentially great, like great enough for its rubbish lyrics not to matter

i can't even understand the lyrics...her vocal affectations are getting in the way for me but that's been happening since BTW

i actually like "cake like lady gaga" better. this has a big steamroller tune etc etc etc so i'm sure i won't hate it but it is definitely a bit of a regression to the fame

I've never heard her go this deep into a Cruella Deville voice. It works, but I wouldn't want more than one song of it.

I've been trying to figure out all day who she's channeling with that voice. So far I can only think of Peter Murphy? I like it, though, I think she get's it just right. Not so much bother about the lyrics as I am with the flow; 'Applause' is a word you should use in the middle of a verse, not a refrain.

i like 'applause' even with the awful lyrics. (she probably fired her editor when she got famous or something.) but 'scheisse' and 'judas' were two of my favorite non-'80s-rock tracks on btw

"poker face" has worse lyrics than this, but they're worse in two entirely separate ways

This is OK, not great. Aside from the bits of schticky vocal it sounds kinda generic viz the charts of the last couple years. I'd like it more as an album track. Maybe it'll grow on me though, as many of hers have.
