Not 70s, but Dave Mason "Some Assembly Required"

Not even sure this is a pun -- the monkey is not a "heavy pet"? I don't know why they're wired together. Baffling.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

This whole thread is a pretty good nostalgia tour of mid-'80s remainder bins at mall record stores, btw.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

Speaking of UFO ... didn't realize this was a pun until being reminded of the British pronunciation of faucet.

The "no heavy petting" was what the sign at the swimming pool would say, but what relevance the monkey has, dunno..

Mark G, Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:50 (twelve years ago)

why are there so many water lines and faucets

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:53 (twelve years ago)

not to mention the implied sexual assault

Number None, Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:54 (twelve years ago)

If she doesn't want it, faucet?

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:58 (twelve years ago)

Not a pun but what the fuck?

chr1sb3singer, Tuesday, 2 July 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

Laing likes women, Bruce likes getting drunk, West likes eating hamburgers.

chr1sb3singer, Tuesday, 2 July 2013 21:02 (twelve years ago)

Also apparently the couple on that "Force It" cover are Genesis P Orridge and Cosey Fanni Tutti.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 21:04 (twelve years ago)

feel like this horrible but not 70s album title belongs:

Never knew that, but it's another Hipgnosis cover and that was Peter Christopherson's day job so I guess it's not entirely surprising.

Not even sure this is a pun -- the monkey is not a "heavy pet"? I don't know why they're wired together. Baffling.

Presumably after having surgery (like getting a monkey wired to your neck) the doctors would recommend that you indulge in no heavy petting.

Filk Hollins (NickB), Tuesday, 2 July 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

I was just thinking that "It's All Fun And Games Until Somebody Loses An Eye" would make a good one of these

^ first solo slbum by Alan Clarke of the Hollies. I have no idea what the title is suppose to mean, but it is truly fucking abysmal.

Ralph Vogon Williams (NickB), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:40 (twelve years ago)

Warren Zevon's "My Ride's Here" is the sort of poignant/sad exception to the rule of this stuff

"If you like the Byrds, try Depeche Mode" (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:45 (twelve years ago)

what a ridiculous cover too. but awesome t-shirt

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:47 (twelve years ago)

I googled just now to make sure "It's All Fun And Games Until Somebody Loses An Eye... Then It's Just Fun!" was not a Megadeth album title.

Vinnie, Thursday, 11 July 2013 17:47 (twelve years ago)

I have no idea what the title is suppose to mean...

Harold Allan Clarke (5 April 1942, Salford, Lancashire) is a retired British singer who was one of the founding members of The Hollies.

Nah, it'd be like, It's All Guns and Fame Til Someone Oozes A Lie!, and it'd be written out on a postcard with a flourish, like they could have written ''wish you were here!'' And the band are standing around, leaning on each other's shoulders chuckling at the camera. And it'd be really brown.

Horrible 90s Album Titles etc., would be a good thread...

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 18:40 (twelve years ago)

What would define the 90s album-naming ethos -- one-word names that sound like chemical compounds?

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 11 July 2013 18:55 (twelve years ago)

Hmmm, tough to say...these things break apart by genre I think. Did the "we're just a fun, no-fuss party band!" thing even exist in the 90s? I guess maybe in the land of vaguely funky major label alterna-metal. Most big rock bands seemed to take on at least a little grungey bummerdom, in image if not in song. Maybe something like Sugar Ray's 14:59.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:06 (twelve years ago)

Oh come now, of course there was!

I'm struggling to keep myself from spamming this thread with more horrible 90s album covers

Moodles, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:18 (twelve years ago)

ahahaha yes, how could I forget FUSH YU MANG. Bloodhound Gang would be a good source here too methinks. But yes - new thread? Or do we need to wait a couple decades?

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:27 (twelve years ago)

E.L.P.'s Brain Salad Surgery always struck me as a particularly awful name

Moodles, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:38 (twelve years ago)

...which is also a lyric from Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time." Both released in 1973. I've always wondered about this.

There's a collaboration you don't see too often.

Proposed (horrible) album title:

Waiter, There's an Armadillo in my Gumbo!

Naive Teen Idol, Friday, 12 July 2013 12:31 (twelve years ago)

Check, Please!, with a picture of the band in spirited negotiations with the record company.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 July 2013 12:49 (twelve years ago)

"Tree Fellers Wanted" - for a trio; or even duo for maximum lolz

Woah, was just listening to the Dr. John track this morning and wondered the same thing

Number None, Friday, 12 July 2013 13:37 (twelve years ago)

there's a who poll on the main page but i kinda realized that this iconic album is sorta one of these album titles

http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/500/69332138/Whos+Next+The+Who.png

hello :) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 July 2013 23:45 (twelve years ago)

somehow it escaped me until now that the title is written "Who's next" not "Who's Next" or "who's next"

PJ. Turquoise dealer. Chatroulette addict. Andersonville. (Hurting 2), Monday, 29 July 2013 23:48 (twelve years ago)

yeah that is kinda weird

one month passes...

Gross.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 23 September 2013 13:21 (twelve years ago)

I know right? I was wondering if an American would ever even say "'ot", but apparently the bloke from Leaf Hound was the singer on that album.

Maybe it's just me skimming through this thread too much, but now I want to read that as a gag title meant to evoke "Fucks in Dlight," whatever that would mean.
