I like album titles where you go "Is that...a real word?" but you don't tell anyone and you're too embarrassed to actually look it up.

tbh Caravan probably stole it off of someone's embarrassing uncle which I think is the genesis (npi) of the joke

I love these album titles because like - - is the idea to convey that the band are just a bunch of cut-ups, some regular goofy guys who might do well as sitcom guest stars even while they make you boogie? So put 'em on and give 'em a spin!

Never knew that, but it's another Hipgnosis cover and that was Peter Christopherson's day job so I guess it's not entirely surprising.

Nah, it'd be like, It's All Guns and Fame Til Someone Oozes A Lie!, and it'd be written out on a postcard with a flourish, like they could have written ''wish you were here!'' And the band are standing around, leaning on each other's shoulders chuckling at the camera. And it'd be really brown.

What would define the 90s album-naming ethos -- one-word names that sound like chemical compounds?

Hmmm, tough to say...these things break apart by genre I think. Did the "we're just a fun, no-fuss party band!" thing even exist in the 90s? I guess maybe in the land of vaguely funky major label alterna-metal. Most big rock bands seemed to take on at least a little grungey bummerdom, in image if not in song. Maybe something like Sugar Ray's 14:59.
