lol. i want someone to do a robot bonus beats mix of get lucky. ive noticed that although instant crush sounds like its nothing special, its still so well crafted that if this was 1984, it would prob make a great 4th or 5th single.

StillAdvance, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:02 (twelve years ago)

actually, its instant crush's non-obviousness/deceptive album-filler status that makes it so replayable.

StillAdvance, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:03 (twelve years ago)

what is with the freakout rock drums on everything. what a terrible idea.

goole, Thursday, 27 June 2013 16:22 (twelve years ago)

"rock"

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Thursday, 27 June 2013 17:03 (twelve years ago)

"Instant Crush" was a major re-sequencing beneficiary.

mike t-diva, Thursday, 27 June 2013 17:19 (twelve years ago)

The tired little 'woah-oh' before the chorus is one of my top ten hooks on this, seriously

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 27 June 2013 18:04 (twelve years ago)

I have never really payed attention to the billboard charts but having 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' is the most synchronized I've ever felt with the mainstream.

Moka, Thursday, 27 June 2013 18:47 (twelve years ago)

Maybe it just means I'm getting old.

Moka, Thursday, 27 June 2013 18:48 (twelve years ago)

I still feel very, very strongly about 1995

DJP, Thursday, 27 June 2013 18:53 (twelve years ago)

1990 was the jam.

Not Simone Choule (Eric H.), Thursday, 27 June 2013 19:01 (twelve years ago)

is there a way to listen to the get lucky remix w/o spotify

we're up all night to get (s1ocki), Thursday, 27 June 2013 19:15 (twelve years ago)

looking at that chart and realizing 1995 was the year i became obsessed with music

Compare with British 1995 - the horror...

Occasionally there's a British single that gets to number one after being bought by every over-40 in the country.

Random .mdb Memories (NotEnough), Thursday, 27 June 2013 21:33 (twelve years ago)

also I feel like Daft Punk must be following this thread

needs chimes right there imo

i love all ilm'rs, but such generalisations needs a massive 'fuck off with that stereotypical bullshit'

ok ..

sorry for the bad mouthed interruption ... please proceed as normal ..

mark e, Thursday, 27 June 2013 22:10 (twelve years ago)

He he, yeh, that was rather ugly and clumsy, sorry.

More like occasionally there's a single that gets to number one on the back of the grey pound that doesn't have much to do with what's happening elsewhere in pop music. Would that be fairer?

Random .mdb Memories (NotEnough), Thursday, 27 June 2013 22:17 (twelve years ago)

ok, no swearing from me on that rewording ..

mark e, Thursday, 27 June 2013 22:21 (twelve years ago)

I was feeling kind of proud until I got to this part,

Sir Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Peter Andre also join the Million Sellers Club!

Kitchen Person, Friday, 28 June 2013 00:33 (twelve years ago)

Can't get my head round the fact that "Mull of Kintyre" is the 4th best-selling song of all time in the UK (and acc Wikipedia "remains the UK's best-selling completely non-charity single").

10zing blogay (seandalai), Friday, 28 June 2013 00:39 (twelve years ago)

A friend of mine just texted me to ask "the name of that funk guitarist on the understaffed punk album"

damn you autocorrect, etc

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Friday, 28 June 2013 15:48 (twelve years ago)

You should reply "Paul Jackson, Jr." as that is technically correct and besides his contributions are overshadowed quite a bit by Nile.

As a bass player, I'm somewhat in awe of beardy hat dude despite the fact that it sounds like Seinfeld incidental music.

I was just listening to top 40, and they played a block of celebrity station IDs. "Hi, this is Robin Thicke," "Hi, this is Justin Timberlake," "Hi, this is Daft Punk ..." With that last one my ears pricked up, because no ways was it Daft Punk. High voice, no accent. It sounded like Spike Jonze, actually.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 8 July 2013 17:10 (twelve years ago)

robot voice?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 8 July 2013 17:21 (twelve years ago)

No! Just some high pitched nasal voice. Like Spike Jonze.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 8 July 2013 17:25 (twelve years ago)

Spike Jonze has an American accent though

Ismael Klata, Monday, 8 July 2013 17:41 (twelve years ago)

exactly. i said no accent. no french accent.

the other day, three different normal, non-music-obsessed people in my fb feed called Get Lucky "Up All Night"

I felt like that *meant something*

alpine static, Wednesday, 10 July 2013 18:20 (twelve years ago)

Overheard in the pub last night: "So anyway, he spent 15 minutes explaining to me all the different meanings of the phrase 'get lucky.'"
