i think its an incredibly empathic record in a way that many big pop records dont tend to be anymore. its got a certain 'kindness' or lovingness about it which is what makes it more retro (in a pretty great way for me). but yeah, i think the compassion might be undone for a lot of people though in that it might seem a bit too soft or naive or just silly with the vocoders everywhere. but that neil tennant interviewer is totally right about this being an album that backs away from the edm race, but you knew that anyway from the first piece rolling stone did on the album...

doesn't start well imo but the outro is nice

real missed opportunity this. there's a killer extended remix in that track but this isn't it. it's really meandering and most of the choices are boring/bad ones until the outro.

This album gives me fantasies of panicked brosteppers running pell-mell through the streets like Charlton Heston, screaming "EDM IS DISCO!"

Also I don't know where ILM is on "Blurred Lines" these days, but that + "Get Lucky" at 1-2 on Billboard strikes me as a pretty classic summer single lineup.

And then we'll just ignore the three songs underneath them.

nile rodgers' guitar playing is as close to a pure statement of human ingenuity and compassion to me but this album is a huge disappointment

though i like the odd sequencing of the album, i made an alternate version (maybe after hearing the album too much, or maybe as i am also starting to think maybe it IS weird to have game of love right after give life back to music)

lol. i want someone to do a robot bonus beats mix of get lucky. ive noticed that although instant crush sounds like its nothing special, its still so well crafted that if this was 1984, it would prob make a great 4th or 5th single.

I have never really payed attention to the billboard charts but having 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' is the most synchronized I've ever felt with the mainstream.

Maybe it just means I'm getting old.
