-IF- my mom had, say, Rubber Soul, that would have been #1. But she didn't. And if my mom had Tonight's The Night, that would have been number one. But she didn't.
The white album has a few really awful tracks, BUT there are so many more totally mindblowing tracks that it totally makes up for it.

is this the best ten years of 80's music ?
That was just my list of years from the '80s, pseudoman. Were it for music, 1989: The Year of Roxette, Mike + Mechanics, and "500 Miles" would be much lower on the list.

Not really a ranking but last night I said my favourite three rock guitar soloists were 1. Prince, 1. Marc Ribot and 1. Neil Young
My friend rejoined that “Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World” was the worst Neil Young song, and I replied that “Let’s Roll” was worse, but that worse even than that was my personally least-favourite Neil Young song: “A Horse With No Name”

gilberto grapeor'ngette colemandon wild cherrymango reinhardtroot birdvince guavaldicab colawaydave bruberryartie strawberryfizzy gillespiekiwi hollidaynina lemonepeachmojohn cola-tranemingus dewmarian mcpineappledexteradegetzberry
notes:"gilberto grape" is my fave because it's kind of a second-order reference. with "or'ngette coleman" the apostrophe makes it, as well as, i mean, i can imagine a cola flavor called "or'ngette". i do also have a marked preference for free jazz, which is why coleman and cherry top the list. i also think the obvious puns are better... it took me a while to get who they were referencing with "peachmo" and honestly i feel like they were stretching it a bit. maybe i should rate "dexterade" higher because, again, i can imagine a soda called "dexterade", it also wouldn't be very good. you'd do better with a fictitious drug called "dexterdrine", though, again, not really applicable to dexter's playing style. same with "getzberry"... i'm glad they included stan getz, clearly the priorty was including as many jazz greats as they could (though miles is a notable omission). "fizzy gillespie" would be higher but it doesn't reference any particular flavor. "vince guavaldi" and "mango reinhardt" are great because they change is just one consonant sound. i also like both guaraldi and django a lot, as well as guava and mango. "kiwi holliday" and "nina lemone" are both stretches. i do want to call out "root bird" because it just feels true to the _spirit_ of bird. "cab colaway" is above "john cola-trane" because i prefer changing sounds to adding an extra syllable.
