a three part poll...

nobody has an excuse for not sending me a Jay-Z ballot. don't tell me you don't have 10 favorite Jay-Z songs, I don't believe you.

For Jay-Z, about all I could manage would be to send you my ranking of The Grey Album. :-(

if you send me the song titles from the black album i will accept that as a ballot

I have no idea how to run one of these but would there be enough interest for a r'n'b (meaning everything from Louis Jordan to Miguel) albums poll?

My ballot would only have hella obscure stuff, like "Dirt Off Your Shoulders."

will need to ask, probably closer to the poll, how i should run that poll. i was thinking a three part with Bauhaus of course being the main course.

What? I'm not sure what you have in mind here. If those artists are all related, I think you should poll all their tracks together.

two members went and formed Tones on Tail. then Bauhaus was no more those two along with one more formed Love and Rockets. Peter Murphy went solo.

So first part is Bauhaus
second part is Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets
third part Peter Murphy solo.

no side poll but don't know yet how i'm going to run this. i feel Bauhaus should be polled alone though.

I'm amped for Clash, classic rock canon, Dylan, Costello. Honestly have no idea what the Classic Rock top 10 will look like.

Also should we keep it just Clash? I'd kind of prefer the purity of it, but they don't have that large of a catalogue and I was wondering if folks would want to include Big Audio Dynamite/Mescaleros/etc

Definitely keep it just the Clash. They have six albums (two of which are double albums) and a plethora of non-album material.

Okay, that was my instinct, but I didn't know if there were a lot of people who really wanted their voice heard on a ballot poll when it came to "The Globe".

My thinking is that the Stax and disco polls are going to be like Motown -- so massive that they crowd themselves outside the order of artist polls, which can go on as usual, concurrent to these big 3 label/genre polls. Motown in June, Stax in July, disco in August...? (Though I don't know if seandalai and Tuomas have monthlong voting periods in mind for them.)

That leaves the Clash next up as far as single-artist polls go -- I think you could start it once some dude is just about finished with the Neptunes and Jay-Z results.

okay then. i'm gonna learn how to do one of these things while those are finishing up.

They're easy -- basically you just stare at a blank sheet of paper until blood starts to drip onto it.

We decided upthread to do disco through July and Stax through August (I'm not around for most of July). And yeah, it makes sense to have at least one artist poll per month too.

Is it time? I thought we were doing one artist a month. I can start it whenever though.

Not sure about it running into July 4th weekend.

fwiw, i'm gonna let the Jay-Z poll breathe after I'm done rolling out the Neptunes results this week, so you're welcome to do the Clash poll whenever, and I'll just set the Jay deadline for whenever the Clash poll has run its course and do the results rollout for that afterwards.
