who's the dj that's going to blow the top of your head off and have you weeping wondrous tears of joy and release on the dancefloor?

(Should i see)

Saw Valentino Kanzyani at Ibiza Underground a couple of years ago. Would definitely see again. Deep, understated, minimal. Plenty of his mixes on Soundcloud etc..

Also Herodot, some of those guys can be severely hit and miss - depends what vibe they are feeling?

Ben UFO, #1 on my DJ wish list, is going to play in a neighboring country. To attend, I will have to spend approx. $250 (all in) and miss my cousin's engagement party. Worth it?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 1 January 2014 16:40 (ten years ago) link
correction: $150

Sven vath, anyone? Tracklists of his sets didn't impress me though..
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 2 January 2014 15:08 (ten years ago) link
so are you going to see ben ufo or what?!?
― the late great, Thursday, 2 January 2014 18:30 (ten years ago) link
Yes! Hope it's gonna be the best $150 I've ever spent.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 3 January 2014 00:03 (ten years ago) link
Ben UFO was disappointing. I didn't come to see a one dimensional techno DJ and that's what I got.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 13 January 2014 00:17 (ten years ago) link
sven vath or john talaobt?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 24 January 2014 08:18 (ten years ago) link
xp I've seen Ben UFO three times and it's been completely different each time - a boring time probably in that same one dimensional techno vein, a great time in the adventurous way you'd expect of him, and a really weird time when after hours of supports throwing out filthy dubstep he came on, cleared the floor with a couple of really skeletal tracks, then gave up and let someone else take over.
― Merdeyeux, Friday, 24 January 2014 09:01 (ten years ago) link
Skeletal tracks? Such as..?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 24 January 2014 16:05 (ten years ago) link
oh it was a few years ago, I don't really remember, but just stuff in the spare and rhythmically-oriented Hessle vibe, which didn't go down well with the teens who'd been enjoying buzzsaw synth lines.

How is Carl Craig these days?

i saw john talabot at a smaller outdoor daytime thing and he was perfect. not sure how he'd fair at indoor/at night, but i'd say go for it.

ended up seeing sven vath since I was late to see talabot. it was okay, but I didn't have any expectation anyway.

Anyone seen Ron Morelli?
― paolo, Thursday, 27 February 2014 09:56 (ten years ago) link
I thought his set was the best at Dekmantel Festival last year. So grinding yet still danceable.

What about Lil Louis?

I LOVE Benoit and Sergio's original material, how are their DJ sets? Seeing them tomorrow with Eats Everything and Dusky, who I don't know and a Spotify search seems like they're a much different kind of thing...

I've seen B&S play some pretty good sets and I've seen them clear the floor with terrible sets. Eats Everything and Dusky are always fantastic, though.

^^They were dope btw.
