I recall hearing 'True Faith' far more on the radio or TV here than I ever did with, say, 'Bizarre Love Triangle'. 'Blue Monday' is the track that's had the biggest amount of airplay overall though, I should think!

The "True Faith" 12" was first New Order product I spent actual money on, so it has a special place in my heart (hell, that deep blue cover alone transports me to prepubescentland), but not so much that I felt the need to the vote for it at this point. So the moral of the story is you all need to love "Lonesome Tonight" just a little bit more and every song on Technique a bit less.

While i was riding my bike today I saw a guy walking a beagle and he was wearing a Movement tshirt. Thought for sure this was a sign that my #1 would finally be #1 but it's ok to lose to Temptation, but it's the last time.

Temptation is more quintessential NO than any song I can think of anyway.

Hooray for NO and thank goodness I kept my muzzle on toward the end.

Funny that 'Sabotage' didn't get a single vote. It wasn't on my ballot, but I still think it's one of their very best late-period songs.

I love this. I also reckon it wasn't a big seller at all, but that that story and the losing money one were cooked up specifically in a print-the-legend thing

Well, 'Blue Monday' went onto sell over a million copies on 12", so it was a big seller... I think they lost money on the original sleeve with the cut-outs (5p per sleeve), but apparently once that batch run out it was issued in a much less expensive sleeve, so the amount of money they actually lost is up for debate. They definitely didn't lose 5p on all the copies that were sold, if Peter Saville is to be believed.

My only real surprise is that Dreams Never End didn't end up in the top ten, I assumed there were enough Movement-heads voting to ensure that. All my friends have always hated Thieves Like Us, so I was prepared for that not ranking as high I ranked it. Another fun poll! I like showing the 12" to teenagers and seeing if they can figure out what it is.

if ILM didn't like the song it would not have shown up in the Top 10. "Blue Monday" had over exposure to deal with and it still landed at number 9.

in other words, i'm impressed with its standing. a true classic, still in 2013.

Also most of us prefer Fanta Orange to Sunkist, which didn't help.

More seriously, I feel like most of my top ten, save the top three, could have gone in almost any order. New Order's singles and best album tracks just have a very large top tier.
