Agreed on All The Way being way too low. My favorite song on Technique. I thought it was cheeky of Hook to steal the bassline from Just Like Heaven. It's like they were getting back at the Cure for ripping them off on In Between Days.

Just noticed that the title track of Waiting for the Sirens' Call sounds like a great Fountains of Wayne song.

"Leave Me Alone" is mysterious, I think it's about the last living person but it's probably about drugs

heresy i know but DNE was the only track from movement in my ballot. i never connected with it that strongly, not sure why, considering i adore the singles from the NO/Hannett period.

also does anyone else prefer the peel versions of some of those movement tracks?

Yeah I have to say I agree with this, easily the weakest of their 80's albums for me. I only voted for Dreams Never End from that album but I did vote for Ceremony and Procession.

I was hoping Thieves Like Us would be top ten, It's was my number two. So much to love about that song, the way it builds is stunning. One of the great Barney vocals too.

Dreams Never End was my highest-ranked song off of Movement. It went from being probably my favorite NO track to somewhere around 4th or 5th. I think it was described in the Trouser Press Record Guide as akin to not scratching an itch and I think that is an apt description.

I voted for regular and instrumental Thieves btw.

Also dreams never end is hypnotic best early NO sound. All gold!! This poll is pure gold.

"Thieves Like Us", more than any other track, has seriously gone up in my estimation other the years. Seemed a tad thin and half-baked when I first heard it a couple years after release. Now it's quite clearly the godhead. Sort of. The long intro now sounds lovely, ridiculously affecting. Maybe I've also grown to see the profound truth in the statement "love is the air that supports the eagle", etc. :)

"Thieves Like Us" is so close to being perfect, but Bernard's vocals can never be perfect, which normally I just accept as part of New Order's charm, but in this case I generally just opt for the instrumental.

Glad it wasn't just me. I'm not actually sure which I prefer, I think it could work both ways.

I wonder if they've played Thieves live that much. I can imagine it would be a great set opener.

Age makes "Thieves Like Us" more compelling.

"Love Vigilantes" received just one more point than "Thieves Like Us" with one number one that pushed it over the top.

I made my mom listen to Love Vigilantes when I got the Low Life tape from the library and she liked it.

Another perfect song that didn't even make my top ten. Love the lyrics so much. I saw them at Glastonbury 2005 and they played this, I was chuffed.

Ah yes, 'Love Vigilantes'... great track... a song that I have a lot of time for, a recording that most certainly could have been a lot better (although I guess I could say the same for a lot of New Order's stuff). If only Melodyne had existed in 1985...

I'm refreshing this page every few seconds now. I'm fairly sure I voted for everything that is yet to place so no complaints really, I just hope Regret made the top ten.

Never "got" this one. I've always thought "Love Vigilantes" was just added at the last minute filler because there wasn't enough songs for Lowlife. My #40.

But it's so much more "written" than 2/3 of NO songs -- it has a story, ffs. Can't be tossed off IMO.

slightly suspect lyrics on LV, or genius? It's always difficult to tell with Barney. Great song though.
