The band recorded three versions:

The album version (4:29), which appears on Technique, emphasises drums and bass for a hard dance feel. It concludes with a cold ending in which the sequencers are run through phasers before then cutting out abruptly.

The 7" version (3:59) co-produced with Stephen Hague emphasizes the melody, synth pads, and vocals. It has a similar structure to the album track but replaces the instrumental break with a repeat of the intro, and fades out in conclusion. This is the version used in the video. Sumner remarked in a radio interview with Terry Christian on Key 103 that he was not fond of the plethora of "Round & Round" remixes and named the 'Stephen Hague Radio-Remix' as his favourite.

The 12" version (6:50) has a 2:45 intro sequence and stops cold before proceeding much as in the 7". It has a wash of synthesizers and a keyboard solo midway through the song. Also, the line "It makes me act like a child" repeats several times as the song ends. instead of fading out like the seven inch version, it ends in a manner closer to the original album version though less discordant.

when I discovered "Round and Round" in high school it was at the same moment I read Dorian Gray for the first time.

Argh, this is way too low. The ending on the album version is king!

A lot of TOO LOW in the last few entries. Confusion and Fine Time both in my top four.

so happy to see run place so high - though i would have been more than happy for run & run 2 to have their votes combined (run 2 was my #2, i absolutely adore it)

round & round has aged poorly for me, though it still made my top 30

Surprised this ended up higher than Round & Round. Is everything from Technique going to place?

Again, too low. Like 'The Village', this is another one that makes me feel all loved up to the point where I want to eat my upper lip. Maybe not lyrically, but there's something about that melody, and the way the chorus just comes over me like a massive rush... the jangly guitars, the keyboard stabs... it's perfect! (and less of the 'Just Like Heaven' comparisons, because they both stand up as great songs in their own right).

Mr. Disco should have placed much higher!

Technique is basically unstoppable.

Just realised the thing I like most about "All the Way" is... the strumming patterns in the verses.

Fingers crossed everything from Technique does place!

"All the Way" was the moment I realized Technique was going to be awesome. The juxtaposition right after Ibiza Time with all those strummed acoustics and urgent drums and the melancholy organ interlude was and remains one of my all-time New Order moments.

All the Way lyrics so poignant!! Love.

We're only missing Vanishing Point and Dream Attack, and I know how ppl go nuts over those.

Agreed on All The Way being way too low. My favorite song on Technique. I thought it was cheeky of Hook to steal the bassline from Just Like Heaven. It's like they were getting back at the Cure for ripping them off on In Between Days.

Just noticed that the title track of Waiting for the Sirens' Call sounds like a great Fountains of Wayne song.

"Leave Me Alone" is mysterious, I think it's about the last living person but it's probably about drugs

heresy i know but DNE was the only track from movement in my ballot. i never connected with it that strongly, not sure why, considering i adore the singles from the NO/Hannett period.

also does anyone else prefer the peel versions of some of those movement tracks?

Definitely too low. I like the Peel versions of the 'Movement' stuff about as much as their album counterparts. They're a bit more restrained. 5-8-6, OTOH, towers over the PC&L version.

I always love hearing older bootlegs with DNE for Hooky's unhinged vocals... "SOOOOOOOOUUUUULLLLLL!"

Yeah I have to say I agree with this, easily the weakest of their 80's albums for me. I only voted for Dreams Never End from that album but I did vote for Ceremony and Procession.

I was hoping Thieves Like Us would be top ten, It's was my number two. So much to love about that song, the way it builds is stunning. One of the great Barney vocals too.
