ah, that's it then.
I have the 1981–1982 EP and it's definitely fine.

the total lack of connection between titles and lyrics certainly hasn't helped
― crabby pate (electricsound), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:27 (thirteen years ago)
So wait. . .
What we've known as 'Mesh' on Substance is actually its real title? And that was the correction?
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 02:29 (thirteen years ago)
what? no
― crabby pate (electricsound), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:30 (thirteen years ago)
the Mesh/ Cries And Whispers mis-titling and other confusions are cleared up by the Recycle blog

my god this song -- it's indie rock reconfigured as a late eighties version of disco.
― A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 31 May 2013 02:41 (thirteen years ago)
Don't mind seeing "Crystal" this low. Never cared for it that much - thought it was seen by most as sub-Electronic?
― Kent Burt, Friday, 31 May 2013 02:42 (thirteen years ago)
'Mr. Disco' — fuck yeah.
My #11 though, so obviously I think it should be higher.
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 02:45 (thirteen years ago)
so " Mr Disco" got 417 points, 3 more points than "Crystal." "Mr Disco" had 20 votes and won to "Crystal" 24 votes.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 May 2013 02:50 (thirteen years ago)
I love how Mr Disco salvages the bass sequencer from State of the Nation in service of a much better song
― Millsner, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:05 (thirteen years ago)
I guess As It Is, When It Was wont be placing.
― brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:10 (thirteen years ago)
^^^I voted for it.
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:14 (thirteen years ago)
"Mr Disco" is great, didn't make my Top 40 however.
― Bee OK, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:19 (thirteen years ago)
yeah same w/ me
― balls, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:21 (thirteen years ago)
I'm disappointed Crystal is so low, I have a feeling apart from Regret there won't be anything else from the last three albums in the list now.
― Kitchen Person, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:27 (thirteen years ago)
(not that there's anything wrong with that)

seems really low though maybe we're getting to the point where it's just crazy loaded from here out
― balls, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:46 (thirteen years ago)
Can't fucking wait for the top five being all from Technique.
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:48 (thirteen years ago)
(okay, maybe 'Ceremony' at #5)
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)
that seems... unlikely
― crabby pate (electricsound), Friday, 31 May 2013 03:50 (thirteen years ago)
You're right.
'Ceremony' at #1.
My bad.
― Austin, Friday, 31 May 2013 03:53 (thirteen years ago)

what i have realized is that New Order is one of rocks best bands, period.

Here's that remix of Touched from the Japanese Salvation soundtrack. My fav. version.

That is a rather pleasing take.
XP: I've been updating Spotify for the last dozen or so, seeing as I'm listening along anyway. Wasn't previously aware one could be allowed to edit another's playlist.

― Bee OK, Thursday, May 30, 2013 10:53 PM (Yesterday) I'm gonna ask the same question I used to ask myself while listening to/dancing to NO songs as an adolescent:Why can't I find any more bands as good as New Order?
Which reminds me that anyone who cares should try to find the Afghan Whigs version of Regret. I think it sounds really good on them, a really different band. I think I have it on a CD somewhere, but haven't listened to it in years. At the beginning there's this stupid stage banter and lol Dulli is like "who wants a New Order song?" and then goes on and on lamenting that not enough people still like new order.
i'm lamenting that i have never seen them live. would i still enjoy it? i go to shows all the time, but not bands of their stature.
― free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Friday, 31 May 2013 13:21 (thirteen years ago)
New Order live? They're pretty good these days, but it's def. nostalgia filling in the gaps.
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 31 May 2013 13:24 (thirteen years ago)
I saw Peter Hook doing Movement karaoke with a very capable band recently, which I must admit I enjoyed rather guiltily. His voice suited the material well to begin with but by the end of the show he sounded flat as a pancake. I imagine the current incarnation of NO would do a good job though.

there it is! the banter is INTERMINABLE but it's worth it to hear him say "i LOVE new order" and the song is obvs good
it's def. nostalgia filling in the gaps.whose nostalgia, is what i wonder
― free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Friday, 31 May 2013 13:27 (thirteen years ago)
Barney in particularly seems almost medically happy these days, super well adjusted. I'm not sure he's nostalgic so much as just happy to make people happy. The fans ... it's a mix of old-person (me) nostalgia and people who have no idea who the band is and what they mean but are just happy to be there.

Those book prints are gorgeous. Surely the Disintegration one has DJP's name written all over it.
