Awesome stuff.

Huh. I'm not sure I've ever heard Here To Stay.

kraudive, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:45 (thirteen years ago)

i voted for the video too, great vid xp

乒乓, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:45 (thirteen years ago)

Much prefer the dude who played Sumner in 2002 to the one in Closer.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

ICB was in my top 20. Not my favourite thing on Movement, but close.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:49 (thirteen years ago)

Movement got its first wide non-import release in America in 1992, so when I heard "ICB" without prompting on the college station I wasn't sure whether it was New Order or mimickers. It thrilled me to learn there was another album I needed to own.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:50 (thirteen years ago)

The most JD song on Movement

Dr X O'Skeleton, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:51 (thirteen years ago)

those Space Mountain synth whoops!

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:52 (thirteen years ago)

i have never been able to remember the names of the songs on PC&L and finally i remembered this one! so glad it showed up!

― free your spirit pig (La Lechera)

Yeah I have this problem too, apart from Your Silent Face and Age of Consent I can never remember the songs I like.

Happy with the albums results, I've never understood the Movement love but can't argue with that top three.

I'm glad Waiting For The Siren's Call made it but was hoping it would a little higher. I think it's one Barney's best vocals and as I mentioned in the voting thread the "How many times can I lose my way" bit is one of my favourite New Order moments.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:53 (thirteen years ago)

Weirdo was one of only three songs I voted for on Brotherhood, it's a good album but not really full of big highlights (apart from the obvious two)

Ruined in a Day should be higher, beautiful song with great production. Not sure which other songs (apart from Regret) will make it in from Republic, hopefully World and maybe Everyone Everywhere.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

I dunno. Brotherhood's the album to play to people who still think NO are a dance act; once you start, "Broken Promise" and "Way of Life" become unassailable.

Released: 13 November 1981

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)

i came really close to voting for that track before i realized i wanted to vote for 'denial' instead

乒乓, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:07 (thirteen years ago)

I gained renewed respect for these tracks after watching the Taras Shevcenko concert.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:08 (thirteen years ago)

can i be the first to say TOO LOW!

Dr X O'Skeleton, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

OTMFM. Outraged TOO LOW.

kraudive, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

What the actual fuck!? Way too fucking low. In fact, it was possibly this very moment for which the phrase "too fucking low" was actually invented. Seriously, ILX!? What the fucking fffffff *spontaneously combusts*

The Jupiter 8 (Turrican), Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:20 (thirteen years ago)

Top 5 for me, in and amongst the big monster genius singles.

kraudive, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

Just watching the BBC radio 1 TV broadcast from 1983. Temptation is the only one Barney doesn't royally screw up. I remember staying up till 2 or 3 am in the hope they would show the Love Will Tear Us Apart vid. Oh the days before the internet....

From: Low-Life
Released: 13 May 1985
303 Points, 19 Votes

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:26 (thirteen years ago)

i thought this was a lock for my Top 5 before doing my list, just dropped to 11.

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

Terrific unhinged Bernard gitar!

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:29 (thirteen years ago)

I expected this would place higher, being one of their most-requested songs at gigs.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

Sunrise was one of the last songs I cut from my ballot. I voted for six out of the eight songs on Low-Life in the end.

41. Guilty Partner
From: Technique
Released: 30 January 1989
309 Points, 17 Votes

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:46 (thirteen years ago)

and here comes the technique juggernaut :)

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:48 (thirteen years ago)

Noice. Voted for this one, but not sure I've ever heard anyone else ever mention it.

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:50 (thirteen years ago)

I wonder if anything off Technique will actually miss out? Guilty Partner came last in the Technique poll a few years back.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:52 (thirteen years ago)

It was the least immediate track on Technique for me, but I've grown to like it. It fits well as a closer to side A.

Yes! Love this song, glad to see others do too.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:07 (thirteen years ago)

one of their finest pop moments

Dr X O'Skeleton, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:08 (thirteen years ago)

Reunited in a Day is the good remix btw xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxpost

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:18 (thirteen years ago)

"World" was dated even in 1993 but it's a terrific post-house track. With great remixes.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:21 (thirteen years ago)

xpost yes! much better than the album cut

world does nothing for me (nah nah nah nah), can't understand it placing whatsoever

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:27 (thirteen years ago)

It's crazy for New Order to ignore Technique live.

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:37 (thirteen years ago)

really, i never thought about that but you are right.

i worked myself into a clam (electricsound), Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:50 (thirteen years ago)

(and probably the only 45 from back then i still own)

i worked myself into a clam (electricsound), Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:50 (thirteen years ago)

Beautiful sleeve on Touched. It wasn't released as a single in America so we had to get it on the BM88 12". It's the best side of that single.

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

so the heavy metal band parody video of touched has something to do with the movie salvation? I never did get around to watching it.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

love this picture, top notch Millsner.

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

I've always really liked Touched By The Hand Of God; it's not in my top twenty but it seems kind of slight and I like that! Isn't there a story about Tony Wilson saying this had a chorus so was lame, whereas Blue Monday never did so was awesome? Tried to find something on google but nothing much comes up.

Oh, And I have the 45 for this as well. It may even be the first New Order I bought. Hmm.
