Goddamn it I confuse "Mesh" and "Hurt."

That's beautiful. Excited about these images now. Peter Saville wouldn't tolerate an ugly rollout.

Wow, those pics!

Mark G, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:13 (eleven years ago) link

ultraviolence is tremendous live, but I always used to confuse it with 5-8-6 and ecstasy.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:17 (eleven years ago) link

gonna have to listen to Mesh again, never recall it making much of an impact.

piscesx, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:22 (eleven years ago) link

I had forgotten that "Ultraviolence" is great

It's the one with the vocoder, right? The only word I ever made out was the title, once.

Mark G, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (eleven years ago) link

i have never been able to remember the names of the songs on PC&L and finally i remembered this one! so glad it showed up!

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (eleven years ago) link

Sumner was actually castigating young Dan for hating his voice.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (eleven years ago) link

Ecstasy is the one with the vocoder.

I always ranked Mesh as the least of their early b-sides, which I guess is reflected in its ranking here. I'm surprised it placed at all! it doe have a cool kind of chilly spaghetti western vibe.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:25 (eleven years ago) link

I am hoping that "Procession" ranks really, really high

this was a serious PITA, but unattributed pics are so rampant on fan pages that I would've felt shitty for perpetuating the problem.

Weirdo is great. Love how the second verse has no vocals.

Also pulling for a high placement for Procession. I liked it for years but in the last couple I've come around to thinking it as one of my favorite songs of theirs.

righteousmaelstrom, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:28 (eleven years ago) link

all the deluxe 2-disc reissues used to be on Spotify but now they.. aren't (in the UK at least).

Procession was in my top 10 I think

Much prefer the dude who played Sumner in 2002 to the one in Closer.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:48 (eleven years ago) link

ICB was in my top 20. Not my favourite thing on Movement, but close.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:49 (eleven years ago) link

Movement got its first wide non-import release in America in 1992, so when I heard "ICB" without prompting on the college station I wasn't sure whether it was New Order or mimickers. It thrilled me to learn there was another album I needed to own.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:50 (eleven years ago) link

― free your spirit pig (La Lechera)

Yeah I have this problem too, apart from Your Silent Face and Age of Consent I can never remember the songs I like.

Happy with the albums results, I've never understood the Movement love but can't argue with that top three.

I'm glad Waiting For The Siren's Call made it but was hoping it would a little higher. I think it's one Barney's best vocals and as I mentioned in the voting thread the "How many times can I lose my way" bit is one of my favourite New Order moments.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:53 (eleven years ago) link

Weirdo was one of only three songs I voted for on Brotherhood, it's a good album but not really full of big highlights (apart from the obvious two)

Ruined in a Day should be higher, beautiful song with great production. Not sure which other songs (apart from Regret) will make it in from Republic, hopefully World and maybe Everyone Everywhere.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:56 (eleven years ago) link

I dunno. Brotherhood's the album to play to people who still think NO are a dance act; once you start, "Broken Promise" and "Way of Life" become unassailable.
