maybe i shouldn't be surprised, but...this is surprising? i guess most itunes buyers are demographically inclined to be daft punk fans, but still.

record store i'm referring has, in recent memory, had other big days on vampire weekend, cat power, best coast and radiohead days. didn't realize the demographic overlapped so much.

oh and obviously RSD ... but maybe it's not the same audience, i don't know

@the late great, I think it is awesome that independant record stores are having a ball with this. Somehow it fits perfectly, it's like them winning the lottery: a Daft Punk record that goes to number one everywhere, and all the kids and then some want it. It's the perfect record for indie record shops to cash in on.

I am picking up mine tomorrow at the local record store btw. Can't wait to get my fat robofingers on that vinyl!

No sleeve artwork. There's a pretty cool 12" booklet with credits and mock blueprints of the 2 helmets

With the CD there's a lyrics booklet with the (disappointingly small) two helmet blueprints and the upside down glasd/transparent synth picture. CD itself is purely the basic Columbia text only layout.

Leaving all kinds of options open for deluxe upgrades, imho.

Been revisitng Touch today...nearly fully come round to it now...the vaguely-honky tonk breakdown puts me in mind of the end of Jim O Rourke's 'Happy Trails'. Which is obviously a very very good thing indeed*.

*weirdly, I heard that song playing in a nice restaurant in the post part of the North Norfolk coast at Christmas. Very weird moment. I was loving it; my family, not being into JOR didn't quite get why I was so excited.

It's been in the top 20, but no higher than #14, for the past month. I'll be very curious to see how it does next week, though. Not only will it benefit from digital sales of the album, it was apparently only *officially* released to radio this week.
