it wasn't a lot of heckling really but it was easy to pick out individual shouters.
and gr8z is right: it was some indulgent trolly behavior. the thing is that up until then it was basically the best DJ set ever so it was totally forgivable.
"Lost Angeles" was when I lost my shit and everything after that was a blur.

i'm listening to it now but still haven't gotten to the spoken word part (just got to "from here to eternity")

the way you described it (including the botched "my name is..." part) just seemed like a classic "great intention, poor execution". almost like a bizzaro-world nightclub scene from an early season of The Office where no one (moroder or the hecklers) is being an outright asshole but you just feel awkward and depressed about the whole situation

This album reminds me of Tortoise in spots, ie sober/mannered Tortoise

yaaah i thought this. 'motherboard' is v tortoise. whenever the record's not being disco it's being post-rock. suits them.

the bitcoin comic (thomp), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

that then was the famous "Love to Love You Baby." no no sorry sorry, "I Feel Love"!

A robot would never have fucked that up, wth Giorgio

dschinghis kraan (NickB), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

'Motherboard' is probably the most Sebastian Tellier moments on the album (it reminds me quite a bit of La Ritournelle actually) but if you guys want to hear Tortoise then that sort of okay maybe.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, he'd have done better working from a script at that point - nice and crisp and on-point, rather than doddery and botched. Still, WHAT a set. And how appropriate that the RBMA site started auto-playing this straight afterwards: http://www.rbmaradio.com/shows/nile-rodgers-fireside-chat (very very good indeed BTW)

the drums are like "la ritournelle" for sure. but i find within, beyond, and game of love all quite like tellier on sexuality.

really feel the need to stress that the "talk" was maybe four minutes of an hour+ set and did not detract notably from the experience because it was really a tack on to the set. Two days later, this stays in my head as what's likely gonna be among the best shows i see this year.

klaus dingeldore's rhinelander monkey keeper father (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

haha ok i just got to the spoken word part, its more cute than embarrassing

he'd have done better to script it and keep it shorter but yeah sounds like a fun party regardless, jealous you got to be there forks

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 16:16 (thirteen years ago)

he was very cute up there in his button up shirt and grampa stylings; total victory lap
i imagine he'll get onto the festival circuit now and basically do this set all over so you may get a chance to see it soon

klaus dingeldore's rhinelander monkey keeper father (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

why are people even reading reviews of this? surely you are setting yourself up for disappointment

damn doin it right is so chill

i pointed out upthread how motherboard sounds post rocky to me. i don't think i'm imagining that via baggage, but obviously that's an awful thing for anything to sound like.

local small indie shop sold forty copies on vinyl alone yesterday, about a weeks worth of receipts they tell me

the late great, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 18:25 (thirteen years ago)

^^ that's awesome.

This is p funny. RAM is the number one album in nearly ever country in the world right now: http://www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10albums.html

Except for Holland where the album of the Eurovision contendant trumps it.

daft punk: are they popular?

gr8080, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 18:37 (thirteen years ago)

wow there are still a lot of Darius Rucker fans in the US eh

he can still do MSG iirc

maybe i shouldn't be surprised, but...this is surprising? i guess most itunes buyers are demographically inclined to be daft punk fans, but still.

record store i'm referring has, in recent memory, had other big days on vampire weekend, cat power, best coast and radiohead days. didn't realize the demographic overlapped so much.

the late great, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 19:26 (thirteen years ago)

oh and obviously RSD ... but maybe it's not the same audience, i don't know

the late great, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 19:26 (thirteen years ago)

"the coachella crowd" is how i lump them in my head

anonanon, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 19:53 (thirteen years ago)

@the late great, I think it is awesome that independant record stores are having a ball with this. Somehow it fits perfectly, it's like them winning the lottery: a Daft Punk record that goes to number one everywhere, and all the kids and then some want it. It's the perfect record for indie record shops to cash in on.

I am picking up mine tomorrow at the local record store btw. Can't wait to get my fat robofingers on that vinyl!

Random ASMR Memories (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

i got my vinyl today, it's pretty dope

乒乓, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:08 (thirteen years ago)

How's the sleeve/artwork? Is it as great as we've seen in the spaceship video? Is there a lyric sheet?

Random ASMR Memories (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:22 (thirteen years ago)

I like that the album basically has a J.R. Robinson half and an Omar Hakim half

No sleeve artwork. There's a pretty cool 12" booklet with credits and mock blueprints of the 2 helmets

Double awes! <<33

Random ASMR Memories (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

With the CD there's a lyrics booklet with the (disappointingly small) two helmet blueprints and the upside down glasd/transparent synth picture. CD itself is purely the basic Columbia text only layout.

StanM, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

Leaving all kinds of options open for deluxe upgrades, imho.

StanM, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

upside down glass/transparent synth picture is in center of vinyl gatefold

a very generous Cordoban (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

Any runout groove messages? (Or whatever they're called, you know, the "Porky Prime Cut" things)

StanM, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:37 (thirteen years ago)

I'd have to check tonight. I definitely noticed writing but just assumed a signature and number.

a very generous Cordoban (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:38 (thirteen years ago)

Cool, thanks :-)

lol from a 0.5 star (out of 5) user review on RYM (I know, I know, but this made me laugh):

"Get Lucky" is the only good song on the whole album. I am a Panda Bear addict,

i kant believe it's not buffon (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 22 May 2013 22:07 (thirteen years ago)

xpost: My copy of the CD has a sticker which says "FEAT. GET LUCKY & LOSE YOURSELF TO DANCE". Obviously "Get Lucky" is the advance single, but does anyone know why LYTD is mentioned? Second single?
