The Game Of Love (Beach Boys connection there?) just utterly destroys the flow that Give Life Back To Music starts, but it's really great by itself. I just find them weaker? The fact they only have one verse each is a bit of a downer. Maybe I am not so far removed from people expecting Human After All Volume 2? #valuablenewposters

so at the end of Moroder's DJ set at Output tonight after 'I Feel Love', dude stops and just starts talking to the crowd for about five minutes to "recreate" the talky part of the daft punk track and the crowd alternates between confused murmurs, occasional shouts of SHUT UP AND PLAY THE RECORDS and hissing "SHHHHHH"s. Eventually he finally says "So my name is Giorgio... I mean, my name is GIOVANNI Georgio..." and then they played the song. Kind of a weak ending to an otherwise utterly epic time.

...the song "Beyond" sounds like is M. McD "I keep forgettin'" so I was singing "Regulators" over it

Lose Yourself To Dance is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. Losing it bigtime to this video this morning. No wonder Nile was grinning so when they played him it over the headphones.

Can I posit another idea why people are going nuts over this album is that it's so pleasurable on the ears...they've understood the concept of compression...that music has become noise with no dynamics just peaks...they've got an old school engineer who knows his shit and whilst I realise that that this has been chopped and processed to the nth degree you can play it loudly with no pain (can't speak for the neighbours)...in fact I swear out the corner of my eye I saw my speakers orgasmically turning to jelly, the bass bins were actually moving...I listened to that Beyonce track after and had to turn it off cos it sounded like a millions kids screaming in pain...and that's not nice...

it really is nice to listen to, i noticed this a lot more since it hit spotify and i can bring it around with me.

i like the song but i think the vocal melody is undernourished and the lyrics are just kind of bad. i don't mean "stupid," i don't care if they are simple, it's just that they don't sing myself except the title phrase. "wipe of all the sweat"? "this often"? i dunno.

What do people think of this? I picked it up for $1 in Brooklyn about 10 years ago. It's from a French group on a French record label. It's about a computer who's sad. The name of the song is "Nobody Loves a Computer Because a Computer Does Not Dance".

I love that computer 12 inch. I wrote about it somewhere years ago. a big fave of mine in the 90's when all I wanted to hear was stuff like that.

for me the record dips a bit near the end, maybe just in terms of the sequencing becoming a bit more erratic. after "touch" i never want to hear "get lucky" and the flow of the last few tracks kind of loses momentum even if some of those tracks are good. the first seven tunes all go together really well though - i even like the casablancas one now.

the lyrics to beyond are amazing. in the last few days it's really hit me how good it is, just brilliant understated pop. it reminds you how amazing "something about us" was as an idea that wasn't really in sync with the rest of discovery.

What I don't get is that in some of the interviews they've said that Guy Man is sort of quality control and sits back giving opinions, but I still reckon this record is really like the Sebastian Tellier album that he produced. Did Thomas actually work on that too, and they didn't reveal this so as not to drown it in hype? Or is Guy Man responsible for the quieter side of what they do?

Welcome to 2013. People pay to "hear" a dj and they expect their money's worth, dammit! "Who is this dickhead up there talking?"

I like the way in Giorgio he's like "becoming a musician was almost impossible because the dream was so big" but then he became a musician and knew that was the moment he had a real chance of becoming a musician.

"fuck, now that I'm a musician this whole being a musician dream could one day happen for me."

yeah, the narrative it tells is really kind of lame and elliptical when you step back. it'd be hilarious, though, if the track was 25 minutes long and he really got into the nitty-gritty of what synthesizers were used on different key productions, how they programmed the drums, stuff like that. "oh, and on this song, we added a slight pitch shift to donna's vocals on the pre-chorus. i think that was effective. and we did use some live drums, what was that guy's name?" as the click track rolls merrily along...

y'all know what he means though. his dreams were so big he couldn't see how to begin, he couldn't see the wood for the trees. but once he'd made the first step the path became clearer.

Tbf, it was embarrassing for all involved. Moroder's rambling recollection was being taped by red bull for future commodification and the anecdote was just how donna summer was alone with giorgio when she recorded hot stuff. Dude was wearing a button up shirt with lapels and looked and sounded like your italian gpa.
Again though: the set was SUPER EPIC and totally worth it, just a retrospective of the moroderverse with every big hit booming in your chest

Title of the album would make more sense if Moroder was recounting various stories about his early use of MS Access to make shitty databases

although that's one of the weaker tracks i start really getting into it when the drums start to go all apeshit around 6:30
