really? talabot got about 2/3 plays from me and that was it, even though i thought it was good.

for me, it's been on heavy rotation more or less since I heard it. Which may say something about the kind of electronic music i want.

Touch is one of those songs that 10, 15 years ago would have been a great source of controversy in music nerd circles -- the pinnacle of ambition to some, an overindulgent embarrassment to others. Before Kid A, part of the fun of listening to records with songs like these was to pour through the different opinions and try to decide which camp you belonged in.

A recent quote in the Pitchfork piece made me think that in some ways, they're consciously trying to will us back to that time:

"Technology has made music accessible in a philosophically interesting way, which is great," says Bangalter, talking about the proliferation of home recording and the laptop studio. "But on the other hand, when everybody has the ability to make magic, it's like there's no more magic-- if the audience can just do it themselves, why are they going to bother?"

yeah, talabot not getting old here either, although i think i will say the same thing about RAM in a year's time

probably been said already but the album cut of get lucky is really disorienting after listening to the single so many times - it's many bars longer but has 0 extra content and loses a lot the momentum of the single version, kind of wish it didn't exist

I wuz sorta hoping that the bloopy outro was a minute long on the album

haha yeah that's the one part i wanted more of too and instead it gets slowrolled more

touch into get lucky is pretty genius tho

the album sequencing is basically perfect

lose yourself > touch > get lucky is a great run

Following up on this, the more I hear this record--with the live-sounding drums, the big orchestra, and the obscure stars and so forth--the more I think DP were consciously trying to make something you couldn't record in your apartment sitting around in your boxers.

i think it's hilarious they made a beardo album but tbf this is the max/gr80/jaxon record of three years ago... there is something a lil dated about it

but i think the message w/ beardo is, when you get old, you can kinda just ignore styles & trends and beard it out for the rest of your life
