okay this julian casablancas track sounds kinda like... ke$ha or something. in the chorus.

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:10 (thirteen years ago)

casablancas track kinda sucks imo.

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:12 (thirteen years ago)

I'm listening to it for the first time now. Giorgio by Moroder is 10/10.

Overstuffed and undercooked, this thing. So sad.

^^ In an ideal world, this always is the perfect, one and true answer

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:27 (thirteen years ago)

my overriding feeling listening to "Give Life Back To Music" is that I'd rather just listen to Chic

far too much asshole flesh (DJP), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:32 (thirteen years ago)

okay serious lol time @ "The Game Of Love"

I don't care all that much about this so far but I am enjoying it more than Discovery

far too much asshole flesh (DJP), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:35 (thirteen years ago)

Fragments of Time is exceptional.

ḉrut (crüt), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:36 (thirteen years ago)

in a good way, I mean.

ḉrut (crüt), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:36 (thirteen years ago)

I really like Instant Crush but there are a couple of songs on the new Strokes album that would fit better on this album.

Lose Yourself to Dance is huge, maybe my favourite song so far.

Kitchen Person, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:39 (thirteen years ago)

i lost track of what's what but the instrumental arpeggio thing, possibly motherboard, is amazing.

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

"Fragments of Time" is my favorite -- not a bad Doobie Bros approximation.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:43 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, they turned him into Michael McDonald! Didn't know Todd had that in him.

Josiah Alan, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:46 (thirteen years ago)

contact is awesome, with that feedback that sounds like an engine, constantly in crescendo.

Treeship, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:46 (thirteen years ago)

bit weird that contact is apparently about 10 years old and they made it with falcon around the same time as "so much love to give"

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:47 (thirteen years ago)

Love it when Touch goes all Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band for a minute!

Kitchen Person, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:47 (thirteen years ago)

I think that I got Motherboard and Beyond confused, Motherboard is this record's Voyager. The arpeggio one.

Josiah Alan, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:47 (thirteen years ago)

Dr Buzzard with really really thick Love Boat strings over the top. Too much coconut.

Josiah Alan, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:48 (thirteen years ago)

you can smell the polyester

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:49 (thirteen years ago)

panda bear tune is pretty good, they actually hem him into a much more structured place than he's usually in.

overall this is feeling like a noble and ambitious slight miss to me. but i can imagine giving it a good few listens over the next couple of weeks.

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:50 (thirteen years ago)

This is OTM. For someone (Falcon) who hasn't laid anything into a groove for 10 years or so, this is beneath 'So much love to give' or 'Together'.

I did read just today he is working on new material though, a new EP/12". Which would be awesome.

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

Casablancas joint is my least fave after two listens. Panda Bear track kinda rules

The Reverend, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

"Within" interpolates a variant on the "Against All Odds" theme.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

Panda Bear tune is a banger!

Only had one listen but Casablancas one actively annoyed me.

Not really feeling Contact.

... (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 May 2013 23:53 (thirteen years ago)

no it isn't. that's not what "banger" means.

caek, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:57 (thirteen years ago)

xp

caek, Monday, 13 May 2013 23:57 (thirteen years ago)

I can't imagine a situation where I'd want to relisten to "Lose Yourself to Dance."

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:00 (thirteen years ago)

thought contact was self-sampling "rollin' and scratchin'" for a minute

caek, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

probably not a full minute actually

caek, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

yeahhhhh that was what i thought too!

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:03 (thirteen years ago)

it;s what kids on youtube nowadays call "shreds" tbh

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:03 (thirteen years ago)

Beyond is really lovely, very Sebastien Tellier. I kinda wish more people had given his last album a listen it was quite brilliant.

Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:07 (thirteen years ago)

Contact reminds me of their remix of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out, but done right.

MarkoP, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:08 (thirteen years ago)

They should put out Fragments of Time as the next single, this sounds like the other big hit on the album. Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be many obvious singles on here.

Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:15 (thirteen years ago)

i'm kinda meh you guys! I wanted to love it cuz I wanted something new and shiny to play but i'm afraid if I bought this on cd I would be skipping around like crazy. would probably just enjoy a cd with ten versions of get lucky.

scott seward, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

guest star stuff usually kinda bums me out if I see a track-listing filled with other people. unless its a rap album. though track-listings that feature puffy or kanye bum me out. multiple other folks make records seem instantly dated. plus, ugh, panda bear. but this is why god invented i-devices. just rip the good stuff to your i-pak and put on your e-buds.
