It was nice of Daft Punk to make this particular Steely Dan fan a disco album. That's all, not looking for a fight.

Will get filed in between my George Duke and Herbie records.

I kinda can't wait to pick the sunniest point in the day and go for a walk around the neighborhood while listening to the back half of this.

the italo parts of this sound to me like a poor version of alex moulton's ideas. the funk bits are sub paul hardcastle.

Finished. I like this album quite a bit!

Keep in mind I like later Jamiroquai, and I was listening to Captain & Tenille and Tony Orlando & Dawn last night. Sounds like Daft Punk aren't interested in Dance Music (tm) anymore, and going more in the production/soundtrack/retro realm. Didn't Daft Punk say they loved Sebastian Tellier? Looking back at that statement, this album isn't as surprising.

granted I only listened to 100 seconds of this before wandering back to Savages and Keep Shelley In Athens but "difficult" is the last word I would apply to those 100 seconds

i haven't heard anything yet but i'm going to because i like expensively recorded drums played by expensive drummers.

the julian casablancas one is great. i love how simple and straightforward most of these songs are, and how much pleasure daft punk are able to wring out of repetition. doin' it right sounds like a streamlined "bros" or something, and i like that.

I think I would be a little disappointed if they released a banging EDM album: Human After All 2.0, it's ok for them to age.

honestly, at least on the crappy rip i heard, i feel like i've never heard drums sound more expensive than on this record.

Do the PB haters also dislike 'Person Pitch' and 'Bros' in particular? If so, I feel bad for them.

Lex, I'm no Panda Bear fan either but please can you just stop. This is so tiresome, we all know how strongly you feel about him. Why are you wasting your time getting so angry about these bands? Is it fun for you to get so worked up ALL THE TIME? I'm not saying I want to read every one on here agreeing how great the album is but now you've listened to an album that you knew you would hate are we going to have to see you saying how this album sucks every day? You already told us you were going to hate this album a few weeks ago just looking at the track listing. Same for Vampire Weekend, if you hate them so much why do you feel the need to post on their thread so much?

I don't know, I love you on here and as a music journalist. But you seem to stick around in threads about music you HATE/FIND BORING etc for so long, makes me wonder why. I don't go invading threads about music I dislike, why would I? If i were genuinly disappointed about an artist I had high hopes of, sure. But you only dropped by here to say you think this sucks...

Fragments of Time sounds like ten Fleetwood Mac songs microcut and thrown back together, the dominant vibe for the rest was for me kinda Steely Dan meets crossover-period Herbie Hancock. The last track turning into Iron Maiden, that I didn't expect.

there's this restaurant near me that's got this beautiful expansive patio covered with trees and is perpetually filled with beautiful people having conversations, but thing is the food sucks and they give you too much of it.

I too am interested in a "range of opinions". You saying music is "boooooring/suuuuucks" is not very opinionated though, and that is your usual shtick in thread about music you don't like. You hadn't even HEARD the new Daft Punk album but already came marching in declaring your dread.
