i must get round to listening to steely dan at some point, i feel like i've said this every year i've been on ilx but never quite managed it

Album reminds me of this thing by David Foster Wallace:

i like steely dan and chic too. i think i got heavily into chic after hearing air play "at last i am free" on the essential mix. you would think i would like this daft punk album, but nooooo it sucks

transcoding a 128 kbps stream to 256 kbps doesn't make it sound like 256 kbps

Love this but have issues with the live drums in spots, namely end of Giorgio and Contact. Seems like they came down on the wrong side of "virtuosity" vs. "taste". On the other hand, I'll forgive a lot for the handclaps in "Lose yourself to dance"

Also listening at Fragments of Time a sincere WTF for whomever of the listening parties who described it as a country song.

You can hear Todd's cutups in the chorus for Fragments of Time. They're subtle, but they're definitely there.

lol at this whole viewing the earth from space ~rousing epic~ to close the album where they just throw the whole kitchen sink in for effect. listen to "hello earth" to see how it's done properly robot guys.

haha well me and lex have talked about this before. i still maintain that the official 320 kbps version of a tell-tale heart is just the 128 kbps version transcoded. sounds exactly the same
