This is remarkably coherent for an album with such a diverse cast. Like, I was starting to wonder what the Julian Casablancas track would sound like, then looked and realised I'd heard it 10mins before. No individual guest overshadows the track at all.

I'm sure it'd be a challenging contrarian view xp

Matt DC otm, that happened to me as well. I really understand Chilly Gonzalez's remarks now about how they asked him to create a key progression or bridge, it's all very connected.

Wow that final track is quite the intergalactic victory lap.

Was kind of expecting this to be an enjoyable mess but it's much better than that.

The only track that disapointed me is Contact. Hopefully it will grow.

I feel like this album is gonna be remixed and sampled up the wazoo for the next year or so.

they've said it's john "jr" robinson (dad-looking white dude who played on all of 'Off the Wall') and omar hakim (sting, tons of jazz fusion & pop records/tours).

i remember going to see a john robinson clinic when i was a kid, he talked about how quincy etc would record him warming up, just fucking around and busting chops, and then punch in little bits of that for the crazy drum intros on 'baby be mine' etc.

the ... sleepiness? ... of pharrell's vocal on get lucky makes more sense now
