idk, the commercial pop radio channel was playing "get lucky" about three times an hour over the weekend

How the fuck did they manage to put together such a masterfully controlled promotional campaign and then allow the album to leak a week early?

as soon as it got into other peoples' hands (like whoever is in charge of streaming it at itunes or whatever) im sure they couldnt do anything about it

yeah they new it would leak today once it streams

it leaked an hour or two earlier than they planned

The drop at the end of 'Gorgio by Moroder' is exactly like the beginning of Shackleton's 'Into the Void'

That's the thing, why even let iTunes stream it in the first place when they knew full well this would happen? Like, I know it's Apple, but this is the biggest release of the year, Daft Punk had the power to do whatever they wanted.

i think the view is that it's gonna leak at some point anyway, but if you stream it on itunes you at least get centric hype and promotion from putting it out there.

I suppose so, but they've got massive hype anyway, I'm just kind of amazed they let it slip out there before the release date at all.

They were probably really confident with the number of preorders that the album already got.

'Lose Yourself To Dance' will, as senior ILM'er Job de Wit has said in his review today, "make us learn how to dance to 100 BPM again" <3

The bit where the strings come in during Giorgio made me so so happy.

Just finished Within, I think it is fantastic record up to now. Way better than anticipated. I juust wish artist wouldn't play the 'ah the state of music today' card has marketing ploy.

Jon Williams' song 'Touch' first song to half break the spell, for me. Not because of the song and sounds, but just the vocals. WOuld've preferred an intrumental tbh

I think what they said was that the state of electronic music didn't make them want to go that way again (also they've always said they hated to do the same things again and again) so they went back to some sounds and ways to make music from the late 70s/80s that inspired them more.
I don't think they meant that their album was about making electronic music go forward.

Having heard Get Lucky a gazillion times already, I feared I wouldn't be able to 'place' it in the flow of the record. But no such thing, fits in perfectly, love hearing 6mins of it too

I think Love Yourself to Dance would have benefited from some editing. Touch is fantastic.

I will be very strong and resist the temptation to listen to the leak and wait for the official release...
I want that old school fun of buying it at the store on the first day and discover it at home.

Dunno, I'm feeling that release day feeling right now, even if I didn't actually go and buy it. The feeling of anticipation and release is still there.

Everyone who works for a label knows that albums leak 7-10 days before release. They knew this would happen. Why do you think there are so many week-before-release streams now? To distract people from downloading leaks. Me, I'll wait and buy it next week.

Srsly! Very downbeat and melancholy. It's funny how the 'mood' of this album has not been addressed in the eight videos they put out there up till now, I didn't get that impression at all.

'Fragments of Time' whoah what the hell is it... 10CC paired with yacht rock? Fuck if I know, but it is so so great.

And I have to say, not one of the OMG I WAS THERE AT FIRST LISTEN reviews prepared me for such a 'moody', bluesy electronic album. So odd.

Maybe they made a feint album to throw everyone off

I for one, after just one listen, can already conclude that these "exclusive one time listening sessions" are a piece of shite that needs to be eradicated from music journalism. Noone even got fucking CLOSE to describing this album.

I hear iTunes is live streaming, at least in the UK, right now.
