I picked up the album yesterday evening, after hearing them for the first time yesterday morning. It's been a really long time since a band has made me feel like "I need this".

This album sounds prettier and prettier every time I listen to it. (The EP too.)
― Mordy
I have a very strong feeling this album will end up garnishing top slots at the end of the year.

p4k combined Fleet Foxes and Sun Giant EP, for what it's worth.
― lil waynes babymama (musically), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:27 (seventeen years ago)
this album kills me because every description makes it sound like something i would like--if not a lot, then at least in a solid-add-to-the-rotation way.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:27 (seventeen years ago)
but it's just boring.
ya rev i think it's a fine song actually but i more liked it because i kind of fucking love ne-yo! like the whole thing has this winky-winky air and he just seems like an A+ bro wkiw

and with that i'm off out. keep the r&b/ringtone fires burning dudes xx
i thought they would be one of the surprises that didnt make it, maybe tvotr didnt make it then.

FLEET FOXORZ: COME CLEAN
― contenderizer, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:29 (seventeen years ago)
fleet foxes sounds pretty good but i never remember any of the songs.

So glad Fleet Fuxors is out of the way before the top ten. It's pleasant background music for Starbucks customers, nothing more.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:30 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sure TVOTR made it
― let's get high off our own supply (The Brainwasher), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:30 (seventeen years ago)
can't even get over how funny m@tt's post is
― goole, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:30 (seventeen years ago)
all those that were chuffed about the dream charting are now sad as fleet foxes beat it?
― The User Formerly Known As Pfunkboy Latterly Known as.. (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:30 (seventeen years ago)
There's no way, sorry. I'm officially predicting TV on the Radio in the top 6 to 10 spots.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)
i dont see the appeal of fleet foxes or TVOTR myself
― The User Formerly Known As Pfunkboy Latterly Known as.. (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:31 (seventeen years ago)
On a side note, the TVOTR album isn't bad by any means. It just didn't grab me the way the first EP/album did together. I've been disappointed by their last two albums -- some good individual songs, but not as fully gripping as their early work.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:32 (seventeen years ago)
I was really mad about the Fleet Foxes SNL performance because, before then, I just pretended that they sounded like this:
― Lots of praying with no breakfast! (HI DERE), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:32 (seventeen years ago)
i know i've told this story before but i saw FFs (heh) as an opening band before they were a thing and was really, really impressed. but the p4k/britisher freakout about them kinda turned me off and i avoided hearing the album. i should cop it off a friend or something.
― goole, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:33 (seventeen years ago)
My initial guess of TVOTR as the album that didn't make it still sticks, either that or Kanye. I have no real reason to justify these guesses.
― i'm getting too old for this ship (a hoy hoy), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:33 (seventeen years ago)
Herman, have you heard this TVOTR song? Seems up your alley. Immerse yourself for 7 minutes, tell me what you think.

I could see voting up the Sun Giant EP maybe, because it has "Mykonos" and that's a great song. But the Fleet Foxes LP itself is breezy xanax.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:34 (seventeen years ago)
yeah I don't really see Kanye making it, the reaction to that album was pretty mixed, no?
― let's get high off our own supply (The Brainwasher), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:34 (seventeen years ago)
Fleet oxes are Paul Weller's favourite american band, as much as i did think his latest album was ok, he really has shite taste in modern bands
― The User Formerly Known As Pfunkboy Latterly Known as.. (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:34 (seventeen years ago)
honestly i completely see their appeal (FF), it's just really the antithesis of what i'm looking for at this point in my music consuming lifetvotr i like but don't love; they're a good rock band who write good rocks songs imo, the bass especially at least conjures some kind of positive visceral rxn in me
xpost i would be disappointed if kanye did not place, i like that more and more every time i play it
― some black dude (k3vin k.), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:35 (seventeen years ago)
ok i'll give it a listen. someone post a youtube of fleet foxes best song and i'll try it too

I PREDICT KANYE WILL MAKE IT
― contenderizer, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:36 (seventeen years ago)
You know, the track on 808s that was a surprising grower for me is "Amazing". There's something about the doomy stomp mixed in with that pre-chorus sweep that's just perfection.
― Lots of praying with no breakfast! (HI DERE), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:36 (seventeen years ago)
That was the obvious standout on my first listen...
― let's get high off our own supply (The Brainwasher), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:37 (seventeen years ago)
there was a marcello inspired backlash(because it was in everybodys lists) against the nick cave album so just maybe that wont make it
― The User Formerly Known As Pfunkboy Latterly Known as.. (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:37 (seventeen years ago)
That's "Mykonos," which is not on the album.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:37 (seventeen years ago)
fleet foxes best song
Oxymoron.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:38 (seventeen years ago)
I liked the album a lot at first but like after 2 weeks I don't really feel any particular way about it. I still play "Amazing," "Coldest Winter," "Love Lockdown" & "Heartless"... thats about it.
― let's get high off our own supply (The Brainwasher), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

got the dream on spotify now. a million miles more engaging than ne-yo. love his voice.
― whatever, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:38 (seventeen years ago)
Kanye ought to show up in the next five albums or so. Pretty confident on that.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:39 (seventeen years ago)
Well the OBVIOUS 808s standout is "Love Lockdown" but everyone had heard that before the album came out. Other immediate highlights for me were "Say You Will", "Welcome To Heartbreak" and "Street Lights".
― Lots of praying with no breakfast! (HI DERE), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:39 (seventeen years ago)
i think kanye will def make it, TVOTR will not. TVOTR is like, mind-bogglingly bland now
― vergangenheitsbewaeltigung (later arpeggiator), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:40 (seventeen years ago)
like the santogold cover. not the glitter, but the reflected arms looking like legs, an hourglass thing.
― whatever, Friday, 13 February 2009 21:40 (seventeen years ago)
I don't get Street Lights, it sounds like Death Cab For Cutie or something
― let's get high off our own supply (The Brainwasher), Friday, 13 February 2009 21:40 (seventeen years ago)
also, i am fairly certain nick cave won't make it
hi dere's summary of 808 standouts OTM
