manuel (manuel), Monday, 15 August 2005 06:39 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that's it TT.

No extras, although the back says "Won't play on computers, huh?"

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 15 August 2005 08:38 (twenty years ago)

whats the "hume04" mean?

Tannenbaum Schmidt (Nik), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

pretty sure that's the label and release number

ken taylrr has gone off the internet because of you (ken taylrr), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

It means it is the fourth release on Huume.

xp!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

It means Mr Huume doesn't have to work a dayjob no more. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, John Huume

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 15 August 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

i think i heard that vlad was supposedly loaded.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

i like the cover. it's urban summery.

Lukas (lukas), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:16 (twenty years ago)

i think i heard that vlad was supposedly loaded.

cool!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

not from the music. i think i heard this on here so it could be nonsense.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

not from the music.

I read this as meaning you'd heard he was loaded from LISTENING to the music!

Does he have a song about being loaded? With breathy cut up vocals and an echoey Maurizio-indebted bassline?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

"Luomo pays Ernestus $2million for amazing beat"

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

haha - did you get that Round 1-5 CD then?

jed_ (jed), Monday, 15 August 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

No! :(

I ordered it from Other Music but they took three weeks to tell me they didn't stock it. I'm hoping to find it when I'm in London and Berlin next month. It is absolutely TOP of my list.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

i think i'm getting a new burner next week. hopefully i can CDR it for you.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 15 August 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

Yes please! Though don't worry too much, I think this is something I probably want to buy a copy of!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Monday, 15 August 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

(if I can find it)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 15 August 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

oh hell. anyway, the new cover looks way more like Master of Reality than the Manics cover. though it's nowhere near as good as the original.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 15 August 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

yeah that re-issue cover is very disappointing. i assumed Vlad was quite deeply into the aesthetics/ graphics of the whole thing. maybe it's an anti design move? the cover reminds me of Omni trio "The Deepest Cut Volume 1" more than anything else.

Luomo!

admrl, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 01:36 (eighteen years ago)

so does any other Luomo come close to Vocalcity? I've heard a few tracks but nothing really seems as good.

Mark Clemente, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

no.

jed_, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 02:13 (eighteen years ago)

my friend sent me a luomo track called "mirrorball" which is real nice, i don't know if its on an album i don't have or what

the only other album by him i like as much as vocalcity is vladislav delay - the four quarters which is not really dance music of course

ciderpress, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

i still like present lover more than vocalcity

deej, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 07:30 (eighteen years ago)

I got a mint copy of Vocalcity for £6 second hand a month ago!

I MUCH prefer it to Present Lover, but it has so much bass the needle literally jumps out of the groove on my nice turntable. Have to put the tracking force to about 3 to get it to play. Sounds great, though.

(I don't think that's why it was only 6 pounds, as it plays fine on cheap direct drive turntable)

Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, Vocalcity what a masterpiece of sound design, texture, and deep house grooving. Everything else, what a dissapointment :( I sold my copy of the Present Lover after, well, not too long, at the time I deemed it something to the effect of fashion show runway house. It hurts me to say this to, what I've heard of his even later stuff is well, I don't want to be too harsh on him. Nevertheless, all is beyond forgotten because his stuff as Uuisitalo is better than ever, some reallllllly good tracks, a return to dance-music form, and how.

LUOMO - CONVIVIAL !!!

featuring guest appearances from Cassy, Jake Shears, Robert Owens, Apparat, etc

Jake Shears!

jaymc, Sunday, 10 August 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

"Convivial" is not a title that fills me me with any great hope or aniticipation, I must say.

Tim F, Sunday, 10 August 2008 07:45 (seventeen years ago)

robert owens, tho

deej, Sunday, 10 August 2008 09:25 (seventeen years ago)

elan, Sunday, 10 August 2008 22:09 (seventeen years ago)

I won't expect much from this in order not to get heart broke again

admrl, Sunday, 10 August 2008 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

I still listen to Paper Tigers.

jaymc, Monday, 11 August 2008 04:51 (seventeen years ago)

Also, my "Jake Shears!" comment was surprise, not excitement. If anything, he makes me skeptical.

haitch, Monday, 11 August 2008 05:01 (seventeen years ago)

when vlad delay finally played in NYC, it was because he was also sneaking into the scissor sisters' studio to finish up the album.

beta blog, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:52 (seventeen years ago)

that wire thing had really cool photos of his studio

I know, right?, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:55 (seventeen years ago)

I'm very confident about this (I don't know if I should be). Although I must say I've taken University courses which require less work than following his recent output.

xposts. it's a pity that the first time I see someone else use that Richard Hamilton pun and not replace 'homes' with 'house'. It's just much more clever that way!

mehlt, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)

What makes today's Techno so different, so appealing, so acceptable to 20something yupsters in graphic design jobs who drive VWs

sous les paves, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:54 (seventeen years ago)

Let me elaborate on the first point though. I think a prime reason I thought the present lover was so bunk was that largely because the vocals were just. kind of haphazardly thrown in there. I think with Cassy and Robert Owens (which got a whoa out of me), I'm confident he's going to not only have fancy vocalists (who will ideally write better lyrics than the stuff in TPL and what have you), but they're the type where the sound design is crafted around the vocals (in other works, please! no more of those irritating, kind of drunk-sounding synths!)

mehlt, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)

i love the vocals in TPL! :/

cutty, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

admrl, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

deej, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

apart from that cartman track

jed_, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

what about that moment in body speaking where she gets it in the butt?

elan, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

Between the last two posts I'm really starting to thing that my dislike of the present lover isn't just me.

mehlt, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

seriously, if the dude says he doesn't like vocalcity and meant for it to come out totally different, then i don't trust him to make music i like now that he's refined his technique.

elan, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

awesome

vague facial gymnastics (sleeve), Wednesday, 28 January 2026 16:10 (four months ago)

"talovahti" in particular is right in that luomo space, sound and rhythm and melody colliding in such a half-awake state that they smear into each other

ivy., Wednesday, 28 January 2026 16:18 (four months ago)

excited to hear these, thanks for the tip!

anyone been following the bandcamp stuff in general?highlights? haven’t heard anything since rakka 1, i think… (which was pretty sick!)
