Been on it a good 6 months I guess now, pretty decent site, but it's not turning up anything I wasn't aware of already.

MattR (MattR), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I think so, Alba. Also it will track what all of us are listening to, creating an ILX Chart of sorts (which will only really be fun if enough people join).

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

creating an ILX Chart of sorts

"and at number one here's a song called 'Take Me Out'...!

We have seven members currently. We need ten for the last.fm radio station bit to work.

Come on all! Join http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/ilXor

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm now listening to Gareth's personal radio station. I have a feeling his currently listening habits are so outré that the Butthole Surfers will be the only thing last.fm have the licence to play.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

last.fm is so exciting though - there's a surprising amount of stuff they've got for streaming, and you can basically just sit there and listen to someone else's records for a while, or a group of people's. I am looking forward to the ilxor station 'launching'.

(just to explain - it's linked to your audioscrobbler stats, though you can add your collection manually if you like too)

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Mort Garson?

Mike Dixn (Mike Dixon), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

That's Gareth's work.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo! We now have 11 members so the last.fm ILX radio is off the ground. First track? Bob Mould - 'First Drag Of The Day'. Hmmm.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i am now in the group as immobilisme

todd swiss (eliti), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

OK - I skipped Bob.

Next up: Nas - 'N.Y. State Of Mind'.

This is a revelation! ILX radio does not work for me, sadly. :(

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Me either. I will try again at home.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks alba

i couldn't find a link to that on the page at audioscrobbler, weirdly

Lukas (lukas), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

There should be a last.fm button sitting somewhere on the top right of the audioscrobbler page. Anyway - you got it working now, yeah? I've already heard a couple of new things I love.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I just get an error message. I'll try on my mac at home.

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Works on a Mac with Firefox for me.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

20 members now. Time for the inaugural ILX top 10:

1 Dizzee Rascal 305
2 Mort Garson 227
3 The Fall 214
4 Randy Newman 158
5 Boards of Canada 153
6 Interpol 147
7 superpitcher 143
8 Wiley 141
9 Annie 135
10 Kings Of Convenience 133

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Mort Garson is Gareth's crazy wildcard.

Randy Newman is the surprise of the pack, I think.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i will make psb enter that list

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean...have you fucking HEARD Mort Garson???

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

j/k

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing is, it's kind of weighted to albums that last.fm are able to stream, cause you can add those en masse, rather than having to actually listen to them millions of times. This doesn't account for Mort Garson, of course.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth sent me a Mort Garson track the other day. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't want to listen to it 227 times.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Square!

adam... (nordicskilla), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Randy Newman's postion is thanks to me I think.

http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/avoid80/
(NB pay no attention to my "Recent Tracks" list)

Richard C (avoid80), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

it wasnt one track 227 times. garson has many wonderful tracks. if you look at my profile, you'll see it is many tracks. and yes, bells of russian is me, but thats partly because i fell asleep once and winamp looped the lp while i was sleeping so it played a million times

*@*.* (gareth), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't mean it about the 227 times.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Garteh sleeps to looped Russian Bells!

This application is ripe for subversion.

adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

BUMP

More people need to join!

adam... (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/ledge/ joined - yay, I pushed Autechre into the top er 23!

Ok why does the group have connections to the Dave Matthews Band?

ledge (ledge), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You get to choose what bands you want connections to when you set a group up, so I guessed as good as I could as to what the top bands would end up as. Adding Dave Matthews Band was just a joke.

However, seven of the bands I added in the connections do turn up in the top 50. I'll change the listing to whatever the top 20 or so is once the group's been set up for longer and more people have joined up.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason, it says I've only played 21 songs, even though I've played probably twice as many. (It's only counting the ones I played on Sunday and none of the ones I played on Monday.) Anyone know what's up with that? (The list of recently played tunes is accurate.)

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It only updates yer profile every 5/10/15... songs or so, depending on how many are you've listened to already, and then only after you (or anyone) has requested your profile page. So if you check again in a little while it may have updated.

ledge (ledge), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

My recently played songs don't seem to be being added to my totals anymore either, despite having gone through several update points.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh - I tell a lie. They're there now. Maybe there was just a 'blockage'.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

And coming from you accusations of shit talking seem just a little bit hypocritical, since that's all you've done since turning up on this board.
