I'm placing an outside bet on a Vampire Weekend no-show, based on the "Everybpdy else will vote for them, so why should I?" syndrome.

Can't watch that clip as my computer has no sound, so not really sure what it's about, but in answer to the question, Crystal Castles are VERY well known for being rip-off merchants. Which I would have no problem with at all if it wasn't for them saying 'we make sounds that nobody else can' in interviews. That's a case for trade descriptions if ever I saw one.

Anyway, I'm off to class/celebrate my BIRTHDAY, woo. Hope the list doesn't get too boring from here on in, I've been liking the eclecticism so far (aside from the serious clunkers of the Hold Steady and Elbow).

I only listened to that Late of the Pier album once, but I thought it was HORRIBLE, even though I like that sort of thing.

LOTP album got better with every listen fwiw, it's ingeniously sequenced and an absolute blast from start to finish, with way more sophistication than you'd expect

There is some craziness is in the top 20 but I don't want to oversell it...besides some omissions it's really the order that will surprise people...certain things will be a lot higher and certain things will not crack the top 5 as predicted by many people here, etc.

LJ - I think you'd like Lindstrom more than Alex Moulton although both might appeal in different ways. I'd say listen to the Lindstrom first though - it has three tracks and the first is half an hour long.

It's not THAT much of a dance album - lots of live drums and slow tempos. It's er, kind of ripe, isn't it? Just got to Meridians, the danciest thing so far. Good stuff.

There's a lot more going in terms of notes on this than the Lindstrom (which is the same chord for the first nine minutes).

I like the Reinterpretations with Prins Thomas the most out of any of his stuff, that might be a kindof challopsy thing to say, I'm not sure.

there's a sweet spot right in the belly of Where You Go though. About the 14 minute mark.

OK, the beginning of the Alex Moulton is a bit deceptive. The middle section is much more up, and it's great. Had I heard it I would have voted for it.

i liked it more than i thought i would.

mgmt pushes buttons that would have made me like them sort by default 10 yrs ago. but at this point i think those buttons are worn out for me, i'd need chemical inducement to show any excitement. i don't mind them, they just, you know... hmm.
