Cover looks some apocalyptic extinction event that was imagined in the 70's but is going to happen now.

but maybe some of these fools are like "if i can just score this copy on ebay for under $4500 or so, i can make a big profit by selling it on discogs. there's a copy of it going on there for $5000!!"

there are only six copies of this thing in existence, right? which makes it an ultra-limited edition. if you look at the art world, for example, people pay four-figure sums for limited run editions all the time. don't see how this is any different really.

do they? I figured it would only be worth upwords of $1000 because it's just a 20 second record and it's not like having a rare BoC thing is as cool as say an ultra-rare Elvis thing. but BoC fans are quite insane and apparently have lots of spare cash.

how come no one's paying four figures for my limited edition CDR of songs i recorded in late high school up to my junior year in college? that was my classic era shit right there

I meant visual arts, stuff like Banksy for example (of whom there are prints going for c. £6000 on ebay at the moment)

honestly i don't listen to it because it puts me in such a dark headspace... it's a great record but i don't really need to be reminded how fucked things are at this point :(

This one never really hit for me. I was psyched for it before release. When it arrived, I liked it fine but found it hard to sit with. In part because of the darkness of it, but also the fact that it is a very slow and lengthy record, and my attention span has only gotten worse over years. I really ought to revisit it soon.

Opposite for me. After CH, I struggled to get excited about a new album and wasn't interested in the viral guerilla treasure hunt stuff. But I like my BoC a little dark, or at least I enjoy them when they're using a contrast of light and shade, so this was a pleasant step back into thst sort of thing while also trying out something new. No it's not as engaging as MHTHRC or Geogaddi, but it works best as ambient "mood" music

'New Seeds' is still one of my favourite tracks of theirs. It's just BOC-ish enough to not feel more like you're listening to anybody else in their sonic and thematic range (e.g. Schnauss) and the chord pattern shift towards the end is so simple yet somehow elevates it into both a shard of comforting hope towards the end of the bleakscape and so one of their most evocative tracks.

ok I'm giving it another spin, forgot how devastating "Jacquard Causeway" is. that off-center beat I think really adds to the atmosphere too, very much gives this feeling of impeding doom

It’s a fantastic, dread album - I hope they decide to make more music but if not, a compelling closer.

New Seeds is one of their most gorgeous tracks - not quite Dayvan Cowboy, but getting there.
