hell, I would look for a level that allowed me to sit in on a studio session and figure out how to shuffle finances so my wife didn't notice I'd spent tens of thousands of dollars on the band in one fell swoop (at this point I've at least spent thousands of dollars on them)

The thing is, she's probably correct that it would be lucrative for Morrissey. However, it doesn't follow that she would need to assist in any way to make it happen. I read her letter as saying basically, "Hey I have this great idea for you Morrissey, and you can use it so long as I get a slice of the action." It's ridiculously presumptuous of her to think that Morrissey would let her step in and start managing how he funds and sells his products.

of course it would be lucrative - how can taking advantage of people's obsession with you NOT be lucrative? she just realizes that other cult leaders might need some help learning how to ACT like cult leaders

to be clear, I think everyone should feel free to pre-sell their work at ridiculous prices on kickstarter, i just find palmer's evangelism and extensions of the concept amazing

considering how EXCITED she is for popular artists to reap the whirlwind and drain the devoted for every dollar they'd give, i'm not shocked that she's had some experience with the cult that believes celebrities are the chosen few

It's just like a sad stab for attention/love from Morrissey fans.

it's a truism from politics that 'open letters' are written by people who have zero leverage over the issue or people addressed

i don't think the letter is offensive or awful per se, just a hilarious extension of her beliefs - "look, if you other drama club icons don't understand how to do turn the fanatic vacuum cleaner on I'LL DO IT FOR YOU"

It's also relevant to point out that a man who can book out a few suites at Claridges to put up himself and friends whenever he's in London is maybe not someone who needs Kickstarter.

no one needs kickstarter. depending on how you look at it, it's either a place to pre-sell goods or a place to offer investment opportunities with extremely limited rewards. oh, and there's no promise you'll actually get what you pay for.
